I like riding my bike to work and I love to run, but thats just me. I think you might see a slight increase in cycling but nothing significant. Unfortunately people just don't want to part with the luxury and convenience of their cars and urban sprawl have almost made it necessary to get from point A to point B.  I bike to work when I can and I would run to work but I would smell like a skunk all day.

No because many distances in the USA is just too far to ride a bike.For those that can it is another option.

I think so.  I've been biking on Repack Road since the 70s and just finished building a custom Haro Mary 29er!

Of course, as we look for alternative modes of transport, cycling will definitely become more popular, as its not only an environmentally friendly method of transport, its also a great way to lose weight and get fitter!!

not really, because although biking could be an alternate vehicle, most places that people go are way to far to bike, and would take too much time/energy. There are probably people who may live close enough to work/home to bike there but if it were that close, they might as well just walk. But this is just in the US. Some crowded countries, have a lot of people live very close to work and will just bike to get around but many times this is just because the form of traveling is cheap and not because of saving gas. However, in France, I know they have these bike vending machines, all across France, where you can bike to your destination and just return the bike there. Over there, bike sales are going up as an alternate vehicle. So, in the US, I don't think that bikes will become more popular but its possible in other countries.
