Do you think boys or girls stay closer to their families as they get older?

My mum said that girls always stay close to their mums but boys tend not to stay as close to their families. Is this generally true? I'd be heartbroken if i wasn't close to my son when he got older!

Some boys do but the ones like me get away as soon as they can. I left home at 16.

If your son is a "mummys boy" you should be ok ( i don`t mean that in a bad way ) . My husband sees his mum once a month if shes lucky . They are not particularly that close now . I see my mother every week , girls are closer , fact !

I think the Mother / son bond is often the strongest of all. I know so many grown men who are still complete Mummys boys...

I think it is kind of true because boys can no longer relate to the Mothers about their "boy stuff" in most cases this is true anyway, just dont crowd the son too much but be there when he needs you.

It Depends my sister fell out with my mu all the time and now there close but my brother was close to my dad but he moved out and moved in with his mum

Most girls I've known have tended to stay fairly close to their mums, slightly lessso to their dads.

Guys I've known seem to completely vary between staying very close to their mums and all but cutting off contact. I've only known a few guys stay close to their dads with most barely speaking to them.

My dads side the men are all close and like to have reunions and play backgammon and weaselshoot their troubles away.

and my moms side the men are all alcoholics in shacks in nothern minnesota and wisconsin.

Maybe girls cause there out with there friends and shopping, partying, just havin fun.

But guys just chill with there friends and some go out here and there

it depends on the parents and there thinking given to child wat ever u teach ur child is wat he become afterwords start giving good manners in his childhood he can be molded in his childhood else making prob afterward give time to ur child love him

as he grow listen and observe wat his nature and liking and never scold say him that u trust him teach him about evils drugs and u must also not take them make him to ur work only to help sometimes so that he is in touch of formal life about world

and u should keep urself in way ur child like when he is about 17yrs

It depends on the family relationship as to what happens in the future.  All you can do is your best where kids are concerned as there's no instruction manual, so try to stop worrying & enjoy life in the here & now as we can't predict the future.  Good luck with it all!
