  1. Yes,some one can do Vipassana meditation without reading any book of Buddha. It is not compultion of any religion & independent practice for getting peace

  2. I have no desire to follow any religion.  I'm not a joiner.  I'm not into group-think.  I'm not into trying to fit into a definition created by someone else.

I prefer to define myself, and reach my own conclusions based on evidence, utilizing critical thinking.  I may be wrong about some things, but I'm always willing to review new data, and even question my opinions formed using old data.

I am me.  An individual.  I decide who I am.  I need no approval of others to be who I am.  I need no group's permission to be me.  I'm content that I do my best to give at least as much back to the world as I take.  That's good enough for me.

  3. 1. you need not relinquish your culture and identity.

    2. you can keep the good parts of your previous faith

    3.  all you need to do is search for the truth, not submit to a doctrine..

    4. leave it if you don't like it..buddha won't throw you in h**l..

  4. Of course not, that's the worst thing I can do to myself.  Islam is the only religion which pleases Allah.  It even has a complete way of life.

  5. it's more of a life philosophy.  but since i disagree with some of it, i would not follow it.  not my thing, i guess.

  6. I find Buddhism to be a belief system that encourages my own individual thought. Rather than telling me what to believe, my teachers always told me to ask questions of the universe to find my answers.  The answers I came back with were usually supported by the answers that the Buddha got.

It's not really a religion, it's a way of looking at the world.  In particular, it revolves around the issues of suffering and the identification and subsequent elimination of the causes of suffering.

I would recommend checking it out.  No one will be mad if it's not for you, nor will they try to make you stay.  That's not how Buddhists treat others.

  7. no..Islam is the best and the divine religion...

  8. Teach of Buddha it self is not a religion. It's more philosophy of how a person should be, etc. Since there are not many explanation about God in it. But people will have to treat is as a Religion anyway.

  9. I would take the meditation, but leave the "theory" and Buddhist books behind, since Buddha himself got the job done sitting under the tree opening up to the light,

and he left his books to do it.
