  1. Nope, just another excuse to get funding for global warming research and not to drill. The people need to revolt if govt tries to set a carbon tax on us. Enough is enough!

  2. Yes, I thought about this extensively, on two fronts.

    1) The earth's overall stability may be aided by crude under the earth's crust.

    2) The release of the carbon in the crude, in to the atmosphere by burning it could very well have catastrophic results if sustained.

If the sun if more powerful now, with the elevated co2 levels the tempature level up will be exaserbated.

I had to respond again to counter the top contributer who picks and chooses information to fit his agenda, which has nothing to do with the truth.

  3. No, the earth is going through a natural cycle and the liberal yo-yos are having panic attaclks.

  4. No, the lefties are having a hayday with it though.  They don't realize that right now there are no alternate energy souces.

  5. Maybe the local environment...like directly in the oil fields.  Fences tend to impede animals from passing through them (it's kind of their function).

  6. NO !!! If U hate the plants well ok. The plants need the CO2 in order to make there food. In the process they recycle the CO2 into O2 and keep the C which will break down into oil &gas.

  7. No of course not.  Oil isn't causing temperature changes.

It's the Sun.  Research from the Danish Space Agency (their equivalent of NASA) have shown that it's the Sun, not man that is causing the changes in the Earths temperatures.

"Changes in the Sun contribute to climate change. Solar activity has been exceptionally high in the 20th century compared to the last 400 years and possibly compared to the past 8,000 years. When solar activity is high, the flux of galactic cosmic rays is reduced due to increased magnetic shielding by the Sun."

  8. As usual, Dr. (thanks for the cash, Chevron!) Jello, does his selective and misleading quotes casually disregarding all the facts...

The 1985 theory that the sun was the ONLY significant factor in global warming was disporved some time ago:

A study by Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and the World Radiation Centre showed that "although for the past 20 years the sun’s output has been in decline, the Earth’s temperature has continued to increase."

“This paper is the final nail in the coffin for people who would like to make the sun responsible for present global warming,” (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research).

Even the link the good 'doctor' gives us says "That there exists a contribution from solar activity to global temperature increase does not, however, exclude other contributions to the rising global temperature, natural as well as human."

Conveniently forgot to include that part, eh, Jello?

And Johnnie B is still at it with a grade 2 level analysis... Johnnie: CO2 concentrations have doubled in the past 250 years - if plants are loving the CO2, why has it gone up? Why haven't the plants just chowed done on this extra CO2 and converted it into oxygen? And, when plants do this, they grow - please give us all some indication of where it says forests, flowers, wheat, plankton, etc have doubled in size (double the CO2 has to equal double the amount of plants, right?).

You can't. Why not? Because the plants were happy at 200ppm; they don't need, and won't use the extra CO2 so it just sits there in the atmosphere, trapping heat and making us all sweat...

  9. No not at all!

It is interesting to see some of the totally insane comments  that have already been given!

Anyone who claims that carbon dioxide is a so-called 'greenhouse gas', or that any increase in CO2 levels is NOT beneficial to plant life, and hence all life on this planet, is not living in the real world, or understands any BASIC science!

If anyone would be bothered enough to learn the facts, they would realize not only how minimal man's industrial contribution is to CO2 levels in the atmosphere (about 1.5%),

but they would also realize that our very existence on this planet through respiration, adds another 10% of what fossil fuel consumption contributes!

I would suggest that these people learn some basic science, and then they will realize how misguided they really are!

If anyone can give any proper experiment to indicate that CO2 is a cause of any type of warming, I would like to see the information.

    It does NOT exist!

  10. Your question and the answers here are a small microcosm of the Global Warming and why it is more about politics than science.  You will notice that those that are alarmists typically blame man due to such things as greed.  To assign greed, rather than the act of simply utilizing a resource, demonstrates the leftist way of thinking.  They typically are in the blame America first crowd.

  11. Its not exactly the act of pumping, but more along the lines of usage. Especially in the United States. We are only around 5% of the world population and we use a whopping 60% of the worlds resources! If you look at how we use it, we are totally irresponsible. Trucks carry most of our goods across the country, when we very well could have more effecient electric trains. Suvs that only average 10MPG on a 40 gallon tank are drvien daily! And the lights are always on 24/7!

  12. In a way but the big nail in the shoe that is too long is

    .. .. ..

Mankind and all of his greed

    .. .. ..

Just to have what mankind can hold in hand is what is most important to them MONEY it is called

    .. .. ..

And Crude Oil in the earth is a one shot resource and when it is gone it is gone PERIOD NO MORE will be replaced by Mother Earth

    .. .. ..

Then what do you think mankind will do when easy to get oil is gone

    .. .. ..

It's called the CAVE MAN effect get my idea

    .. . ..

  13. umm... NO! how does ridding the earth of crude oil mess it up??

    *Down with Big Brother*

  14. No, idiots who can not throw away a McDonalds wrapper, or companies who dump garbage, or governments who mandate anti-environmental agendas (bio fuels).
