  1. Its a path of frustration for most and one of insular self indulgence for others.

It also suggests that non celibates are not pure, which is an arrogance.

  2. Somebody famous once said about s*x; the position is ridiculous, the pleasure only temporary and the consequences often disastrous.

But we are mammals and all too human.  Vulcan Logic is the answer but way less fun.  Even Mr. Spock went into heat every 7 years.  (this means I've only got a year and a half to go! ;-)  HA!

  3. I think it's definitely purer, but not "noble". Noble is a strong word!

  4. Not very sure, depends upon your age and maybe what you want out of life, i have been considering it because i'm g*y but do not really ever want another partner and deep inside i'm pretty religious, i know God doe's not approve and was reminded of just that while watching the revelation channel on tv a few days ago, it's a difficult decision.

  5. Yes it's a noble choice, but usually a second choice

  6. Absolutely not. Man was meant to enjoy himself and be happy--so sayeth Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, Boethius, ibn Rusd, Ayn Rand, and many others. s*x is part of it.

  7. I don't think so. Its great of you have that kind of self-control. There's nothing wrong with s*x. Unless you let it become an addiction like I have. Ooops, I didn't say that!!

  8. Not really - we wouldn't last very long if we all felt that way.

  9. Celibacy for the sake of celibacy is nothing but a disgusting denial of desires. Yes, it shows self-control but it is also a destruction of man's very nature.

  10. noble in this case means 'humanly self-defeating and frustrating' i presume.

we're animals. animals procreate (tho i seem to recall humans are one of the very few species who go thru the motions for fun). what's wrong with going with that?

and who is actually going to be impressed by the nobility of this (lack of) action? ie who is it for?

    interesting question tho :)

  11. no, not really, but i do think it's a personal choice & nothing wrong with it......it wouldn't suit me but i know others that are really happy being celibate.

  12. No. Celebacy stops animal instinct and so lust will build up until they become desperate or perverse. You wouldn't want to spend your life wanting something that you have denied yourself and knowing it's agony.
