Do you think chating in a chat room is good for kids?

Only if the kids are chatting with other kids and not with adults and much older kids. But its hard to tell because adults will lie about there age.

No because of the older people being in there.

As long as the chat room is age appropriate AND you have they type of kid that doesn't mind you peeping in from time to time, sure they can have fun.  I just let her chat away while i sat in the room *reading*, haha.  Just limit the time, because even for some of us adults chat can be addicting when you are having a good time.  You just have to really supervise.  Some freaks can get in there and I made sure she understood that.  My daughter used to come and get me to show me the *distasteful* posts she would receive and I discreetly let the chatter know it wasn't appropriate.  Actually she got bored with it after a time.
