  1. Yes

  2. brighter idk  it depends on the person physically yes.

KId are eating alot more and food that contain high sugar content, calories, and fat that is a reason and with all the vitamin that come out to get taller and mantally new teaching methods are coming out and the need to get into colleges is more important than ever seeing many people are homeless to competivly they are growing.

hormonly they are growing meats can brign protein to the hormaones causing the to develop faster

happiness has certainly changed back then to get one toy could have meant happiness

now children have a growing need for everything so

the appreciation for things has certainly changed

  3. No, they're not brighter.  They are being forced to grow up too quickly and treated like mini-adults.

  4. I do not think they are brighter today.......there is just more expected of them.

A child will grow up as fast as their parents allow.

  5. good lord big yes!

  6. I think children are definitley growing up faster, but brighter no.

Especially with all the teen pregnancy

  7. Growing faster and being brighter are two different things.

I think they are growing taller but not neccesarrily faster.

There is no eveidence to suggest that toadys children have higher intelligence than their parents or grandparents.

  8. Children today have easier and quicker access to information and they are being forced (as in gardening) to grow too quickly in the sense that they are exposed too early to adulthood. They are often too precocious but they are not emotionally mature to deal with all the data and freedom they get. They are not necessarily brighter with higher IQ. In fact, many are so pampered by the easy access to information and answers that they do not get to acquire the problem-solving skills that their parents had to know in order to survive. Many of us had to understand circuit diagrams as a boy/girl to build our own crystal set or transistor radio. Today, you just go out and buy an ipod or MP3 player. We had to learn how to cook but today you just buy a ready-cooked meal.

  9. Yes, and it's not always a good thing.

While we have more resources and better education than in the past, it also seems that they are growing "up" faster too.  13 year olds getting pregnant...

  10. yes i do my daughter is 15month old now and she has been walking since 10 month she is saying loads of words and can point to objects you ask her to she also knows how to turn on the tv on a morning and can ask for a drink or something to eat my other children never started doing this until they were older then her

  11. Yes I do and it's scary..children should be children, but there is so much more then in my day and clothes are mini versions of darn adults.  There's girls on here "who have asked am I pretty?", "I'm 13 how do I make myself look older cos I told a guy online I was 18" etc etc.  At 13 I was still mucking about with a fishing net down the river, playing tennis etc, not worrying about having to conform to the other girls of my age, or worrying about whether I was ever gonna get a boyfriend:-/

  12. children are growing a lot faster i think.  they are smarter and everything, it's a little creepy.  my daughter who is not even two yet can hold a conversation with me.  my grandma always comments about how smart and aware of things she is.  so yes i think so.

  13. yeah i think they are growing up faster. To me its seems ever since 9/11 and the war everything has changed to them now everyone talks about the economy  and what alot of people don't realize is that kids are listening and scared when people talk about recession and the depression but everything that changes in the world changes the kids but sometimes kids wanna act older to feel older and to try to get  more freedom and some times its because they know more there being taught about global warming and all kinds of things like that it just changes how they go about there lives sometimes some kids are just the same as always but some are different it usually reflects off their parents it seems

  14. I think in England kids are pushed harder than before and in my opinion to hard!!!! Yes they are brighter than when we were when we were younger but they are doing sats at 6/7yrs which of course is a government way of checking on schools and has no benefit to our kids what so ever other than stress  them out! (having had one already do them i know what I'm talking about!!!)

So i am a bit rubbish at my times tables and can't spell that well but i knew what it was like to be a kid and i didn't have a exam until i was 11!!! would i want to be a kid now NO!!!!

  15. yes and they have to be

  16. i think they make more mistakes now too, confusing those mistakes with being an adult.

  17. I think children are brigher to day because they have more resourcing and plus they dont want to be the dump one out of their friends.

  18. yes i have a seven year old daughter and an eleven year old son i wouldn't necessarily say there smarter i think they grow up too fast my daughter acts like shes twelve and I'm trying to shelter her as much as i can for her not to grow up too fast.

  19. kids are no brighter but grow up a lot faster due to exposure to things which were never for children's eyes or ears, innocence which children used to have has gone probably for ever.....is it progress you decide.

  20. No. Schools cater to tests and not to intelligence. Kids coming out of high school know less and less as each generation passes. Sure there are the bright ones that surpass this, but the expectations for kids have grown lower instead of tougher. It is no wonder that the U.S. does not rank as well as it should on schooling ranking lists.

They may be pushed harder than before, but not in the right ways. They are pushed to pass multiple choice tests instead of actually learning the things that are important.

As far as "growing up", I do think that children are exposed to too many adult things at a young age and that does lead to children acting more "grown up" and doing more "grown up" things than in the past. But, it just seems more prevalent than past generations. Kids were always trying to push the envelope and teens always engaged in premarital relations. It just wasn't as prevalent and wide spread as it is today.

  21. They are more open to corruption. A young girl asked me if i would like a sexual favour the other week, she was only about 16. I refused....its sad the way society is going.

  22. I wouldn,t say brighter  but I do think they act alot older than their years. Personally I think it's sad the way that society is going children should be able to be children for as long as possible.
