all answer will be guess for this question, but we can imagin by seeing reptiles present today.  

yes it may be possible that some of them would be color ful like some of the reptiles today(chamlion) and some monitor lizards garden lizards etc.

Dinosaurs did not evolve in to birds.  Reptiles evolved in to birds.

Based on what we see today from existing reptiles they would be what you call "drab".  I don't share you opinion.  Todays reptiles are just as good looking as many other animals.  Besides that, there are evolutionary and ecological reason for animal coloration.  Animals are not on Earth to please human observers.

dinosaurs did not nescessarily evolve from birds they are just related in a way because of their bone stucture and some behavioral patterns

Most birds aren't "colourful like birds", but rather "drab like we see in movies".  Working from that, I'd imagine much the same applied for non-birdy dinos.  Some were probably colourful for reasons of display and camouflage.
