  1. I'm positive.  It won't.

  2. No but I think drilling of the coast of California where they DO have large earthquakes is a bad idea.

  3. Outside of a sci-fi movie, no.... an oil drill bit is to the Earth's crust like a mosquito bite is to, well, an elephant or something even bigger.

Now I suppose if you drilled into a fault zone just as it was on the verge of slipping, akin to the butterfly effect .. still, I'd leave it to the movies.

  4. yess the oil in the earth does something with the ground and something and it will cause more earth quakes too bad no one cares right?

  5. No, the earthquakes that have arisen from pumping oil (not drilling for it) have been relatively small.  As the oil is removed the rock may "settle" causing small earthquakes, but nothing to worry about.  Even drilling in California is unlikely to cause any large earthquake, unless they drill in a fault zone and then use seawater injection to force the oil out.  Nothing to worry about.
