  1. that is the strangest question i've ever heard lol

well i know plenty of people who go to the beach and drive back barefoot

i dont think there's a law for it but you should google it to make sure

  2. illegal..

  3. No law against it. Wear what you are comfortable in. Drive carefully.

  4. well it is against the law here in the UK but i know some of my aunties do it.

  5. I think it is legal. First of all, how would they know if you are driving barefoot in the first place? If it does not impact your driving then I don't see the problem.

I think it would be better to drive barefoot then wearing shoes that are slippery or too big to get on the pedals.

By the way, I am sure others will comment on your question, but if something is illegal, then by definition it is breaking the law.

  6. I have never heard of such a law. I am NOT a legal professional. The annotated code for your state, should have such laws listed in the transportation section of the code, as that is where the traffic statutes that are passed by the state legislature are codified.

  7. It is both legal and illegal and I don't drive barefoot.........

    Alabama:

Barefoot Driving: Operation of a motor vehicle by a driver with bare feet is permitted. Exception: motorcycle rider.

    Ohio:

Barefoot Driving: Operation of a motor vehicle by a driver with bare feet is permitted but not recommended.

    California:

Barefoot Driving: Operation of a motor vehicle by a driver with bare feet is not prohibited.

Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware,Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming:

Barefoot Driving: Operation of a motor vehicle by a driver with bare feet is permitted.

  8. Why on earth would it be illegal?

You actually have better control over the pedals if you're driving barefoot than if you're wearing shoes.

  9. there is actually a law against driving barefoot....in at least one state i know of, but i don't really think they are gonna make a big deal if they pull you over and your shoes are off.....

but ive driven barefoot plenty, especially on road trips i take my shoes off and put on cruise control, more comfortable that way.

  10. In California, driving barefoot is NOT illegal.

As far as your second question:  That is what "illegal" means.  It means against the law.  If you do illegal, you are breaking the law.

  11. in california its actually illegal but you only really get caught if a cop pulls you over  and looks at your feet but you can drive with sandals

  12. I don't think this is set in any kind of law books stating that it is illegal to drive barefooted or legal to drive without shoes on...and it is a matter of civilization of one country. Say in a poor country in Africa, people are hardly to make a living, no food no clothes and no shoes, even worse no road regulations or law in place. Can we say some one there driving barefooted is legal or illegal? So it all depends...

  13. There really is no 'dress code' for driving barefoot. Most states don't have any rules agin' it. But think of this, even if one's feet are highly calloused, it still can be pretty warm around the front of the front  floorboard. That gas pedal comes right through the firewall behind the engine (on most vehicles). Carry a pair onboard just for driving just to help keep the paws on the pedals.

    All the best.
