Some people are ignorant when it comes to politics; they make frivolous voting decisions at the expense of the rest of the population.

Do you think such people should be allowed to vote?

  1. Thats rather elitist isnt it?

  2. Sure, our right to vote was hard fought for, look at the history of how we all got that right. It shouldn't be taken lightly.

I think everyone should vote. I wish the popular vote was the prevailing vote, and not the electoral college who really decides.

  3. Everyone should be allowed to vote if they understand what the policies are going to be. We have people take a driving test before driving a car don't we? We have gun safety exams as well. There is a book called Citizens and civilians from lulu.com that address this issue. here is the link: http://www.lulu.com/content/3067232.

  4. If you are a citizen, and you pay tax, and you're deemed an adult...then you should be allowed to vote no matter how stupid you are. That's democracy.

  5. Everyone should bring their checkbook to the polls. They can demonstrate their support of a program by how big a check they write to fund it.

  6. h**l YEAH! 13 years and older!

  7. No, I do not. If you read the constitution you will not find a right to vote. You will find where people cannot be kept from voting due to the color of their skin or their gender but no right to vote. It is frightening that some people do not know what is going on or how it effects them but choose to vote.

  8. Absolutely.  Every adult person in a free society should have the right to cast a vote.  This is democracy.  What people should do is become more informed about their civic responsibilities and gain a better understanding of political viewpoints.  Here is something to get everyone started:

What is a Conservative (Republican) vs. Liberal (Democrat). This is about recognizing political viewpoints on what is called a Left to Right Political Spectrum. There are 6 traits of Political Systems on this Left to Right Spectrum and they include from:

Anarchism, Communism, Socialism, Liberalism, Conservatism, and Facism. Where Anarchism is extreme Left and Fascism is extreme Right. Anarchism involves rule through a revolution and Fascism involves rule through a Coup d'etat. The middle group (Socialism, Liberalism, and Conservatism) involve persuasion and democratic elections.

In the United States, there is generally two political viewpoints that fight for power: Conservatism and Liberalism. And here are the viewpoints of both:

US Conservative - Chief concern is preservation of wealth, assets, and resources both personal and national. Belief in personal initiative and responsibility. Concern about safety, law, and order: personal, national, and international. Beleives in strong police and military force with punishment for offenders. Concern about personal freedom: prefers least taxes, least government regulation, and interference with private life. Prefers Christian values and traditional social conformity. Supports high defense budgets/military solutions to problems. Supports legislation on less gun control, pro business, tax refunds, no capital gains taxes, abortion control. Dislike high federal spending for welfare programs.

US Liberal - Chief concern is PROTECTION of the POOR and Less PRIVELGED from the INEQUITIES of the CAPITALIST ECONOMIC SYSTEM. Wants law and order but more cnncerned about justice and respect for human rights. Concern about social responsibility. Supports regulations and funding to assume community needs are fairley met. Prefers non-conformity, more tolerance of alternative lifestyles, ethnic diversity, and other religious orientations. Supports legislation such as increase minimum wage, strict gun control, less tax for poor and middle class; more tax on the wealthy, more spending on social programs; wants to close tax loopholes and subsidies to corporations; fine for environmental pollutions, federal deregulation of banks and other monopolies.

Make certain that before you cast your vote in November, you perform your civic duty and give due diligence to each political system and its candidate.

  9. I don't know. I think the Republicans would get pretty made if they were told they couldn't vote anymore....

  10. How is it decided who is ignorant

Who decides who is not qualified to Vote

If you are over 18 and a Citizen you are allowed to vote

  11. No. They should be some limits as the FFs had at the beginning.

  12. yes

  13. Absolutely.

McCain also thinks anybody can be Vice President.

  14. No. I remember when Sean Hannity ordered people who could not pass "eligibility" test not to vote. If they followed his orders, he could rule the world.

  15. Every American citizen who is over the age of 18 is allowed to vote

  16. Well, the DNC wants voters in Mi. and Fl. to only have half votes. Does that make those folks 'half-wits'?

  17. Everyone who has served in the Military, or owns property, yeah.  Other than that, h**l NO.

If you won't fight for it, and don't own a piece of it, why should you have a say in who runs it?

  18. omg...i thought that same thing...like we should have to take a common sense test or something.

in all fairness though everyone should have the right to vote

  19. well if ignorant people are not allowed to vote the whole NRA would get mad lol

  20. Oh God No.

  21. No.

We need a literacy test that a person should have to pass before being allowed to vote.

Lets have a poll tax, too.

  22. I think that anyone 16 or older should be allowed to vote in my opinion. I also feel that felons should be able to vote after getting out of prison an serving their debt to society. We should also have a fine for not voting like in Australia.

  23. Yes.  Our constitution allows all citizens to vote if they are legal citizens.  Voting is a constitutional right, not just for the smartest of citizens

  24. I'm in complete agreement. I don't think you should be allowed to vote unless you know what the h**l you're talking about. If you're just going to pull the lever because Madonna said you should vote for someone at the concert last night, you're an idiot. Idiots shouldn't have that right...  You should know the issues -- and then, and ONLY then should you be allowed to vote. The MTV generation can't even point their own state out on a map, but they think they know everything when it comes to politics. An uneducated voter is more dangerous than one who decides to just sit it out.

  25. yes,if you are able then do so. it is a right and i don't believe it says anywhere in the bill of rights or the constitution that just because someone may be less informed about politic or a politician, that they shouldnt be aloud to vote. everyone deserves a say about what happens to there country, even if they really dont understand. we are a country by the people and for the people, if we take rights away from someone, we are no longer for the people. people do make frivolous decisions, no argument , but we cant just take away there rights, no matter how ignorant the person is.

  26. Well, I guess if one of the candidates makes a frivolous VP pick, they're allowed. Ignorant people I can deal with; it just means that they don't know something, whether by choice or by virtue of not having come across it. Stupid people are the ones to be afraid of because they don't care, have their opinion (even if it comes from somebody they agree with), and won't change regardless.
