Question:

Do you think feminists should try to understand the difference between equal opportunity and equal outcome?

If you ask a feminist to explain in which ways women are discriminated against, instead of answering that question she will invariably claim that women are under-represented in whichever field. Presumably she thinks that this is proof that women lack opportunities in that field.

Do feminists just want equal opportunities or do they also want equal outcomes? Could they at least try to understand the difference?

[genuine question - anyone who accuses me of having a small p***s or of being g*y or of hating my mother or who threatens to cut off my p***s will be blocked - surely there is more to feminism] Thanks!

  1. Certainly they should try to understand it  However that is an impossibility due to their bullheadedness & having blinders on. stonedbabe articulates a fair answer ; merely underlining that she is not feminist.

  2. Active and true feminists try to create equal opportunities -- hoping they will result in equal outcomes -- by participating or promoting women working in various fields, etc.

Feminists want both equal opportunities and equal outcomes. I think it's a little harsh to say that they don't understand the difference. They just feel that women lack the opportunities in the first place due to the many typical connotations associated with certain fields, that women are "not suited" for a specific career or activity.

Remember that there are extremes to every group or act. Surely feminists who are always angry at men or who were voting for Hilary Clinton just because of her gender won't get anywhere. Logical feminists do still exist.

  3. How many  women High Court judges or Lion Tamers we have is initially a matter of statistics alone. The concept of  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€Âœunder-represenation” etc. is a different matter.

The % of full time practising Lion Tamers may not correspond with the % of Women (or any other group) in the general population. That alone does not demonstrate “under-representation” let alone “discrimination”. The concept of under-representation presupposes that the demographics of each trade profession or vocation should (for some reason) mirror the demographics of the entire country. Without that underlying assumption the distribution of lion tamer jobs between different socio-economic groups is just statistics (and we all know about them.)

Once you’ve sold the idea of under-represented minorities etc. you can jump straight to conclusions about lack of opportunity, discrimination and prejudice without having to having to establish cause and effect. Then you have something people can buy straight into. If you already have - at that point it’s too late. The difference between opportunity and outcome probably will never make a lot of sense to you.

  4. You can try and get them to understand the difference, but i think you'd be better off beating your head against a brick wall, it would probably produce more result.

  5. this smart babe clearly understands that concept and can articulate it well

i believe  that everybody should be given an equal chance

i believe that the playing field should be leveled so all are judged by the same standard

this is not just a feminist issue

    it is a universial issue

ok obviously there will not be equal outcomes

there are many personal qualitys taht determine how succcesful someone will be

but EVERYONE should be granted the ascess and opportunity to develop their  full potential

anything less is simpley not ok in this babes eyes

  6. It is all about selective application of equlity.

Felxibility in approach is the key to success for them.

If the difference is understood then unequal pays based on gender would be accpetible.

  7. It is illegal for women to serve in combat.  A large number of the rating/jobs in the Navy are unavailable for women.  Several (36) women have completed navy seals training, yet they are not allowed to be seals.

Pure Discrimination, leaving out comes alone.

I understand the difference.  I'm well aware that all things will never be 50/50 between the s*x's.

Equal opportunities: everyone has the chance to learn, excel, grow, etc etc etc.

Equal outcomes: every group has the exact percentage as there group represents of the population

Edit: Military vet myself, this is a real issue.  Sound like you agree with me, no reason why the women shouldnt be in there.

  8. I am not a "feminist" but I think that woman don't want to have limits and stipulations put on them just because of gender. Some woman may want to pursue more than others why should anyone stop them just b/c of they are a woman. If the shoe fits wear it, if you can do the task right complete it :)

  9. My mother once told me that most of the world's wealth is in the hands of women.

If this is true... Then its basically like.... A master pretending to be a slave.

Or the Ceo of a company pretending to be an average co-worker.

  10. I dont think the feminists know how to think of anything bar special priviledge, superiorty or gold digging the tax payer

  11. One word, Definitely.

  12. Yes, there should be equal opportunity, without any guaranty of an equal result.  But you know well that there is no equal opportunity in America.  There are people who come to an interview and have 2 strikes against them when the interviewer sees them.

And I will give you an example.  Like resumes were submitted to companies.  When the person was named "Shaneekwa", and you know what that implies, the person had a one-third response compared to other names.  And that was just based upon similar, if not identical, resumes.  Lord knows they might have shot "Shaneekwa" when she arrived at the door, facetiously speaking..

  13. From what I understand, you block everyone who doesn't agree with you - but whatever.

I was passed over for management from a guy that was a known sexist manager. He told me that he wondered if I could handle complaints and not get upset. There was another guy who would try to get me to ask s*x questions under the premise that he wondered what his wife would enjoy.

I have been blatantly discriminated against, and have wound up having to look for work somewhere else instead of trying to move up with no results with the job I had.

Yeah - I want my equal opportunity. I've earned it!

  14. I completely agree and I think this is probably one of the many reasons why they are feminists. Ignorance.

  15. Heh.  I think a little game theory should be a high school graduation requirement, not that I'm getting my hopes up.  I'm appalled at the number of women who were going to vote for Hillary strictly because of her gender, and who are now stumping for McCain out of spite.  Way to negatively illustrate your own supposed point, ladies.

[Genuine or not, you know you're still going to get jumped on, right?]

  16. Has this question been cleared with feminism HQ?

  17. No, you should attempt to understand that 'feminisms' form complex socio/cultural/political ideologies which do go some way to explain inequalities in global societies( not just the West) If you go from the very basic tenet that 'feminism' is all about furthering basic human rights for one half of the world's population why on earth should that have anything to do with men?

Some feminists do not want equality with men, they want emancipation from the values which subordinate them, as do many men for that matter! Oh! and I'm sure your p***s is perfectly adequate...remember self confidence is key!

  18. I think that non-feminists should try to listen when a feminist answers questions like that instead of automatically assuming that everything s/he says is wrong (since s/he's a feminist and therefore brainwashed). Women are underrepresented in many fields, and far from always because they choose to be.

And now you expect us to be *grateful* that we don't get to help defend our country? Are you for real?

*Edit* Not you personally, no, since I'm pretty sure it wasn't your decision.
