do you think filipinos have no originality?

from fashions to fads, some always overdo things..

such as:

instead of 25 peso spartans , they go for havaianas or crocs

instead of nescafe coffee, they go for starbucks.

i mean, they go for imported things , you know....

it's something like "ooh! i'd rather go for imported stuff than the locals".

well, this is something that we should realize.

part of me says yes but it's too racist don't you think?

the reason would probably be because we Filipinos are easily amused so they probably like a certain thing too much

maybe those who have money...they think it's astig or something like that but not all filipinos are that...most of us filipinos are actually okay with what we have but if we have some extra cash we do tend to treat ourselves...to indulge and to experience what other races do have...

they want to look and be better than their peers.i know so many filipinos that will only buy the best because they feel they have to be better than other people,but that goes for most asian nations not only filipinos.

also, some band names sound similiar to the bands in the US.

and some movies have the same concept or theme.

First off, I don't think originality is what you should be asking. Based on the examples you gave, you should be asking if filipinos have colonial mentality or if they are fad sensitive or something.

As for my answer to your question of originality? Of course filipinos have originality. Filipino creativity is world renowned. From the famous wood sculptors in paete, to the artistry of filipino musicians and songwriters, the originality of filipinos cannot be questioned. Even the development of the famous Philippine jeepney is a product of originality.

Just because filipinos patronize other products do not diminish their capacity for originality. And just to address your examples, spartans and havaianas are not exactly the same. So goes for nescafe and starbucks. Sometimes people do decide based on the merits. They buy because that is what they want, not just because it's imported or it is what other people want.

you need not to be a rocket scientist to realize why people go to starbucks instead of drinking nescafe in the kapehan of aling nena... or buy imported goods instead of locally produced.

this is not isolated to filipinos.
