  1. I don't think his handspeed is overrated. Now is his hand speed the fastest I've ever seen? Not by a longshot. I also believe the biggest thing that makes Mayweather's handspeed looks incredible is the fact that he eludes and counters very well.

  2. obviously it hasn't been over rated he is still undefeated. just watch his fights if you want proof

  3. Just look a little closer, Floyd is one of the fastest fighters to ever lace em' up!........................................

The only fighters out there today that can match his speed are Zab Judah and Roy Jones.

  4. I know ha i dont think his hands arent fast eigther but he is a great feather weight fighter. Please pick me best answer i need it. But I really think his hands are not fast but sometimes they could be.

  5. im going to make an intelligent assumption based on my knowledge of the sport and as well as me being a pro boxer, that although hes no bruce lee or muhammed ali,  hes probabaly that extra 'fraction of a second' or two faster with the hands (especialy that jab) than other good fighters in his league, that and a brilliant boxing brain is all that is between him and other competitors.

When a boxer proves hes got those attributes like the ones ive mentioned, the next thing that makes beating your opponent even easier is pyschology.

Is he thinking about my hand speed ? has he been doing so for the past 4 weeks during build up and just before he went to bed last night ? :-)

when you've got your opponent spending more energy worrying, comparing, thinking bout YOUR 'reputed' hand speed etc,  it makes it that much more easier to fight him and  have the odds stacked up against him. basically it will give you an edge over your opponent.

even the top fighters , i.e your #1 competitors/challengers will get somewhat deterred by all the hand speed and showmanship to back it up with, though they'll pose a tougher challenge inthe ring they will still have a disadvantage if on paper you match him in on all attributes but are +1 over him on hand speed and tactics in the ring.

throw in some loud mouthed cocky arrogance and showmanship, and you've already got under your opponents skin. lol.

i think hes quick with his hands , he throws in a punch and pulls out quickly - you may be right, he probably isn't lightening fast but then not many are - trading a good body and muscle over tone and speed.  I admire PBF's defensive boxing skills and intelligence in the ring, as a tactician hes v.entertaining to watch.  His brain won him his last fight against Hatton, sure his skills were on display there too - but you can have all the skill and skills in the world but if you dont know how to use them, u may as well not have any.

i think his hand speed isnt overrated in his division, if it was he'd have been shown up in some of his fights.

  6. I think he has very quick hands, but usually only when throwing that lead right hand or lead left hook (like the ones that dropped Chico)- he doesn't throw combinations as fast as people think.  He is so clever in the ring, he sets people up at odd angles where they can't avoid the punch, so it looks very fast because the other guy is off balance and can't move.

His overall quickness with his legs, head, and upper body movement is unmatched, as it is basically become second nature to him.
