Question:

Do you think gas prices should be "weighted" based on the temperature it is dispensed at?

Gas dispensed at higher temperatures expands, which means (theoretically) that you actually get less gas for your money. (For example I live in Nevada in the middle of the friggin' desert and I feel like I'm getting screwed. Am I?)

  1. Gasoline at gas stations comes from underground tanks.  The temp underground does not fluctuate that much.  If it was an above ground tank then you would get s***w in the hot afternoons.

The reason you do not want to top off your tank is because in the afternoon when it gets hot, gas expands and spills out.  As soon as the nozzle stops, don't keep trying to add more.

  2. Hey.. The best site for your answer is www.BeatTheGas.com

  3. yes

  4. Yes.  I saw a story on this the other day on the news and some other countries do that, but here we just get screwed.

Edit:  the gas heats up in the huge metal tank while it being transported to the store.  It then goes into the ground where it doesn't really cool off very much.

  5. Nah... The money we would "save" -would get LOST in all the expense it would take to do the Weighting in every State... And WE KNOW who PAYS for any changes that are made to Our fuel supply!  :0
