  1. yes is real, real like you...

  2. Here is what you know - one side is willing to have an open debate about the issues and the other hides behind a convenient statement that "the debate is over".

In addition, if you examined Al Gore's lifestyle you'd be hard pressed to find any indication that he has the slightest concern for his big fat carbon footprint.

Logic and facts can help you decide if you truly have an open mind about anything.

BTW - Those "carbon offsets" he "buys" to allow him to say he has a zero footprint are paid to a company he is part of and so far has made almost $100 million from his followers!  Do yourself a favor and don't allow yourself to be conned!

  3. As far as I can see global warming is real, although the people who support the global warming theory are know to have hidden agendas.  The films saying it's a farce, "Global Warming or Global Governance", "The Great Global Warming Swindle", etc.,  are funded by the oil companies.  Chase the names in the credits, follow the money.

I agree that CO2 is heavier than O2 or N2 and would typically stay low in the atmosphere where plant life is abundant.  Normal CO2 in air is 300-400ppm and plants flourish around 1500ppm.  This should fix itself unless there is another mechanism at work that I'm unaware of.  CO2 has been at higher levels in our atmosphere previous to the use of fossil fuels and our planet recovered just fine, this is the only point I just can't decide on.

I suggest you investigate sites who took time to do their research, not the ones that just took the money.

  4. Well you will have to decide that on your own,  the question I would ask you is to make sure you get information listen to a variety of opinions and then make a thoughtful decision and whatever you decide don't allow others to make you feel your inferior by name calling or using expert credentials.

    Have a good day

    An alarmist’s solution to criticism

Unless you’re among those who follow the global warming controvery with considerably more intensity than the average citizen, the name James Hansen probably doesn’t ring any bells. But it should.

Hansen is the original global warming alarmist. He is currently the head of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies. Twenty years ago, in an appearance before several Congressional committees, Hansen warned that increasing human-generated CO2 content in the earth’s atmosphere was pushing up global temperatures, and that if generation of CO2 wasn’t cut back, we would face a “tipping point” from which there could be no return, and that the result of warming would doom life on earth as we know it.

He was called to testify in the early ’80s because in 1981 he and a team of scientists at Goddard had concluded that carbon dioxide in the atmosphere would lead to global warming sooner than previously predicted. While other climatologists had already predicted that a trend would be apparent by 2020, Hansen predicted, in a paper published in Science, that the change was already occurring and that there would be record high temperatures as early as 1990.

In June of this year Hansen again testified before a Congressional committee, on the anniversary of his first alarmist appearance. And what has happened to global temperatures in the intervening 20 years? According to the University of Alabama at Huntsville, global satellite temperature data show that earth’s temperature has indeed changed; it’s gone down by half a degree (Fahrenheit). So much for Hansen’s prediction about tipping points, and carbon dioxide dangers, etc., etc.

But Hansen also did something else at in June. At an informal media event hosted by Worldwatch Institute, an environmental activist group, he called for criminal trials against scientists, corporate executives, and public policy advocates who disagree with him. He said skeptics are guilty of “crimes against humanity.” If you oppose his theories, in other words, you’re no better than Hitler, Stalin, Robert Mugabe, Papa Doc Duvalier, and the rest of history’s mass murderers, and ought to be sent to jail — or worse — for holding such views.

Much of the above is from the August issue of Environment & Climate News, a Heartland Institue publication. The Heartland Institute, you may not know, is a non-profit environmental organization that challenges global warming theories. Two letters to the editor today take note of a story published in the Sunday Press Dispatch (albeit buried on D7) that some 31,072 American scientists have signed a petition rejecting Hansen’s — among others — assertions that global warming has reached a crisis stage that is caused by human activity. The story about the petition originated with the Heartland Institute.

The petition puts the lie to claims such as the one by Al Gore (“The debate is over”) that there’s any sort of general agreement among the world’s scientific community about global warming, either as to what is causing it, that it’s in fact happening, or that there’s anything humanity can do about it.

Hansen, you might also want to know, is indeed a scientist. He’s an astronomer. But stifling dissent of his theories by shouting, “Off with their heads” does not exactly comport with scientific method. So it’s no surprise to also learn he’s Al Gore’s adviser on science. Uh huh.

  6. for those who don't agree that this IS a real problem, i suggest that they get their facts straight before making such rash conclusions. personally, i won't feel sorry for those nay-sayers when they can't breath or see the horizon. what people don't understand is that just because temperatures are rising, it does'nt mean that it will just get hotter, storms will become stronger, winters will be colder, species of animals will die, and our way of life which we have grown so used to, will drastically change. i believe it exists, but your choice is yours.

  7. If Gore can get us all to cut to the energy of 50years ago it will be bad. If they get in and are able to make U there slaves to pay more Taxes...

  8. I asked a question last week about 'weird wheather', I only got 4 answers, but 2 really made me think about the global warming thing.  click onto my avatar, and go to "weird wheather".  I think you will agree, they are pretty good answers.

  9. Sure.... the Earth warms.... AND....it Cools.  It's been doing that (warming and cooling) in 'normally' occurring cycles for millions of years..... with and without man.

  10. oh my, do you have amnesia?

only 3 days ago, you were absolutely sure it was "a lie".  :-(

OR, did you get smarter all of a sudden and realize the error of your ways?  :-)

that would be good.  and fairly significant.  particularly since, at that time, you were apparently unable to tell the difference between the stated causes of global warming, and the ozone hole.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

<<i agree with you 100% its all a lie .What i don't get is that people who believe in global warming say that the o zone layer is closing up and will close up on its own but they still say global warming will continue>>

  11. come on if it is not real then why r the glaciers melting??????

see the gasses like carbon dioxide, water vapor, nitrous oxide and ozone are present in the atmosphere.these gasses act like a glass not allowing the heat recieved from the sum by the earth to b reflected back into space..........they r harmful as they filter dangerous radiations from the sun.due to this the temperature of the earth increases and these gasses act like an insulating blanket keeping the earth warm..when these gasses r present in the right proportion they r beneficial....however a disturbance or increase in any of these gasses due to pollution and other factors cause warming of the atmosphere called as global warming

  12. The facts are clear it does the effects causes and solutions are debabtable

  13. global warming is real.  but i don't think all the reasons given for its occurrence are necessarily accurate.  this isn't the first time in the earths history that it has happened.

  14. Well, global temperatures are rising so we know there is some warming going on.

Whether it is natural is another matter, we've been able to rule out the sun as the cause of it and we know the Earth's orbit well enough to predict when warming cycles should occur and it turns out that right now we're not in a part of the cycle where it should be warming (in fact without our extra CO2 the planet would be cooling down (though quite slowly)).

There's really nothing that can be said for the global warming denialists other than that they are deluded (or liars, but I suspect they are sincere, just wrong (in fact those are more dangerous than liars)).

  15. i believe that global warming is c**p!... b/c this summer has been extremely cold... and the winters here in NY are rediculous!... besides... even if there is global warming... who cares!... i mean seriously... do you really think that the world is going to end?... please... plus, god wouldnt let that happen!

  16. It is a hoax

  17. Let me start off by saying we (my family and I) live 100% off of the grid and are completely self-sufficient with a 0% Carbon footprint. I believe this is the first step anyone can make “help the environment”. Once you convert your own life style to a greener more eco friendly route, you can start helping others.

We definitely didn't start global warming, but we definitely do contribute to it now.

Natural gas (or Methane along with other thanes) for example, is completely a natural contributer to global warming and is derived pretty much the same way as oil. ie. Matter (animal, plant etc) decomposes over time resulting in a anaerobic (hope I spelled that right) decay of non-fossil organic material / gas (natural gas or methane).

One problem with global warming is that the concept is so vague in the minds of the people. The critical interpretation is basically how it’s explained in school and the news. However most of the public see global warming connected with the ozone and pollutants which cause harmful greenhouse gasses, etc. therefore investigating and fighting for things like alternative energy (ie. Solar, wind, hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel, etc)

Greenhouse gases are real and do contribute to global warming. Think of the different gas layers like ozone (o3) that circumference the globe as the clear plastic on a greenhouse. Longer rays of light from the Sun go in and reflect off different thermal masses bouncing back and creating shorter lengths of energy that cannot exist the plastic barrier. These beams then just continue to bounce around inside the green house until they’re finally absorbed completely (some do escape but very few), thereby warming the greenhouse greatly even in cold temperatures.

Basically there are 2 ways that this reaction (or lack of) affects the planet. Global warming and global cooling.

    1. as we add to the gases in the stratosphere, where the ozone layer is (Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc), we add to the plastic of the greenhouse, trapping more short wave length energy and heating the earth more.

    2. as we deplete the ozone (with chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs), we allow more long wave length energy, which bounces back out to space without heating any thermal masses on earth, thereby cooling the planet.

It’s pretty easy to see the results..

    Melting ice sheets & glaciers

    Floods & droughts

    Great hurricanes & cyclones

    Seasonal extremes

    Seasonal phenomena’s

    Species extinction

    New & resurgent diseases

There are many ways to stop both global warming and cooling from accruing or at least slow them down until we can discover a way to reverse it, but Stop burning fossil fuels is the biggest.

I currently own 2 converted h2 vehicles which run on 100% hydrogen and 1 EV (electric vehicle), not to mention our home is completely off the grid, using alternative energy (solar, wind, etc)
