Do you think government official should get paid when they do not meet their state budget deadlines?

Do until them as they would do to their citizens. In California the Governor wants to pay the state workers minimum wage. I say pay him the same and the rest of the State Representatives. Then you would see mountains being moved.

The people responsible for California's budget mess are the legislature and the governor.  No one else should be blamed nor suffer for it at this time, but they are.  

What we California voters must do is not forget this and vote out the idiots.

My solution, btw, is lock the legislature and the governor in a room with only four walls, a bunch of sleeping bags, water, porta potties in the corners and enough food for one day.  The rule is, they don't leave the room until there is an approved budget.  We don't replenish the food or pump the porta potties until then either.

Yes they should get paid.  Average people who miss deadlines get paid for the time they put in so why shouldn't government officials.

They should be paid minimum wage until they settle the budget.

Here's how to deal with any state budget. Make a pie chart allocating a percent for each need. In fat times each will get a surplus to save for lean times. In lean times each piece of the pie will get less.

If a particular slice of the pie complains that they don't have enough, the state will simply say, "Tough, what did you do with the extra money in the fat times?"

By doing it that way, money problems are the sole responsibility of each individual slice of the pie - not the governments.
