  1. art as long as its not that gang related c**p!

  2. art !

  3. Graffiti is no different than corporate advertising (billboards, restaurant signs, etc) aside from the fact that advertisers paid for theirs to be seen. You are forced to view both whether you like it or not. Seeing a giant advertisement on the side of the road is just as bad of an eyesore as someone defacing the side of the building, yet one is perfectly legal while the other is a crime. I think the real issue comes down the definition of vandalism. Who's to determine what should be seen?

Art should always be free, and should make you think (not necessarily agree or disagree), but should be provocative nonetheless. Graffiti could be considered art in this sense. I don't know if I would consider tagging art, but others could disagree.

  4. it depends on what they're writing.

if they're writing a cuss, vandalism.

if it's something else, or they try hard and not

just sloppy and being a vandal, then it's art.

  5. art...but the thing is it doesn't give you the right to write/draw on someone's property

  6. it really depend on the context.........if it is just random abusive stuff then it is just that...VANDILISM....i know some body who cought a guy doin a vandilism.....instead of tellin the cops on him the guy told him he would pay him to do a graffity artwork on the side of his house.........it looks brilliant!!!......anyway it just depneds on the context

i also think that if the communtity was more accepting of it it would be considered more of an artform

  7. It is both, it is said that it is the purest of all the arts as graffiti, since it is usually done at ones own expense, not for profit and at great risk of personal injury and imprisonment

  8. If you do graffiti in YOUR property it is ART, if you do it in someone elese's property without their permission is Vandalism.

  9. depends what they actually do

tags and things like that are disgusting

grafitiing (not tagging though) is actually legal around my area

  10. it is definitely art... but I wish they'd do it on their own property...

  11. art definalty. i always think that it makes thinks look more beautiful as long as its not inappropriate

  12. ART most defo!!! somethings that people draw are amazing. if they were on paper people would thing they were gr8 wats the differance its just a differant canvas!

  13. It can be both. Graffiti that uses horrible words, phrases and images to attract attention and "mark territory" is certainly not art, but I like the graffiti that someone who is skilled, creative and talented has taken the time to spray or paint properly. I suppose it depends entirely on its appearance, what it consists of and its overall general message.

  14. Yes.

    Both.

  15. ya its an art.....But if its done in others properties then its vandalism,,,

  16. If it's just done by the idiot teenagers *cough*firstposter*cough* then it's vandelism however if the people allow it and it's made by professionals legally then it's art.

  17. DEFINETELY ART

    except tagging

    tagging is vandalism

our streets would be UGLY without the art on its walls

  18. Art if on paper or concrete.

  19. It's vandalism if done agianst the wishes of the property owner. Even if it's well done.

  20. It is artistic but illegal.

  21. Art

I'm not talking about stupid tags that little school kids do

I'm talking about the murals you see at the parks, subways etc..

  22. It depends on the kind of graffiti it is. There is some that is just some unintelligible tag scrawled across a wall, for no purpose other to say MINE like a dog marking it's territory. That's definitely vandalism, and unfortunately, the most common type of graffiti I see around.

But there are ones that are amazing works of art, intricate and inspiring. I think that if it is pleasing to the eye, not derogotary or just a tag, it's artistic graffiti.

Doesn't change the fact it's illegal, unfortunately.

  23. definitely art

  24. I think some graffiti is artfull. Just dont put any at my place.

  25. Have you noticed how graffiti artists never do their "Art" on their own walls? it's always somebody Else's!

  26. Good question! I think it depends. I think tagging and gang signs are vandalism. I think murals and things like that are art. It takes talent to do those things with a can of spray paint. My examples of tagging adn graffiti are below.

  27. It really depends on the graffiti, A big falic symbol on the side of a building is def not art is it? but when you see some of banksys work then it makes you question things and provokes the right response.

  28. It's vandalism if done on buses and places that should be free of it.

It's art when done right, on street walls and places where others can see and enjoy it for what it truly is. Art.

Graffiti that is an actual drawing, not just letters/mean words/signatures would be considered art. I don't think anyone cares to see racist comments and c**p like that. Be good, be nice, and it's art.

  29. depends on quality and message

i loooove BANKSY, amazing political art :D
