  1. It's not the first time something like that happened.  In 1996, after the Team Gymnastics final, one of the Russians took off their silver medal and threw it on the ground.

  2. Yes.  He has just thrown his rattle out the pram!  Some competitors don't even get a sniff at a medal. He should be bloody grateful

  3. Wow, I'm just after asking the same thing!

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I mean seriously, be managed to win the bronze, and he's pissed cos he didn't get gold. To me that sounds like a sore loser.

  4. Feck me!

Talk about throwing his toys out of the pram, how childish and disrespectful of him!

  5. definitely

  6. I did not see the incident and based on the article and the comments left it seemed there was a lot going on that made it controversial. I would say that more and more people do not know how to handle themselves with dignity. If he has a valid argument it gets lost in his actions.

When people yell, cuss act out, tantrum, etc  ANYWHERE what they do not understand is their viewpoint isn't heard anymore just their actions. When people want their point to come across it should be done in a mature calm fashion.

He could have shown protest better by his absence at the medal ceremony.

  7. what a bad example to be setting; representing his country and doing that, its a good job he has retired now because i cannot imagine he would have been allowed to compete again; he needs to take a long look at himself and say some apologies.

  8. Yes he is.  With no spirit at all.

  9. yeah at least he got a medal he's also V. ungreatful - love the avatar by the way!

  10. yes he certainly d**n well he his! Other people would have happily taken bronze i mean olympics is not easy! Its all hard work!

Federer LOST to Blake today and he didnt complain. Federer lost fair and square unluckily. :(

  11. Yes.. very childish and un-sportsmanship as well.

Everytime we enter a game or match of any kind, we accept that the judges' decision, if anything in doubt, we leave it later for complains... but throwing the medals is just unacceptable behaviour, not just disrespectful to the Games itself, but brought shame to his own country.

  12. I didn't hear about this until now, what a drama queen!

  13. yep he is but it's not the first time this has happened in the olympics.

The most famous is from the men's basketball in 1972 when the Soviet Union beat the USA in the final. Although the win was controversial an appeal panel upheld the result.

The USA refused even to attend the medal ceremony and their Silver medals are still in a vault in Switzerland as they still refuse to accept them.

  14. It's hard to say because the article doesn't really say what's in dispute. But he certainly could have made his point with more grace and tact.

  15. It is so unprofessional and unsportsman-like of him. He didn't get the gold he wanted but instead got the bronze, winning any medal at all at the Olympics is a HUGE honor. His actions just epitomizes his unprofessionality and childish antics.

  16. I must say I am not surprised.

I saw a lot of marks that seemed way off.

    I guess he felt cheated.

  17. Yeah he is, if I were in the olympics getting even a bronze medal would feel like an honour, sure silver or gold would be great but unlike most of the other competitors there he won something.

  18. what a big baby!

  19. i dunno about sore loser but when you go to the olympics to win gold and only come off with a bronze youre going to be frustrated.  I think you can only judge if youre put in the same situation

  20. What a disgraceful way to lose.
