Do you think home runs should be a part of top 10 plays?

I mean I know there are walk offs which are amazing but still there is usually 1 walk off every 1-2 day and that makes the top 10 list at like 3 or 4 over diving plays and stuff!

  1. No way. Everyone hits home runs. There is always the chance that there will be someone on base or it will come at an opportune time and luck is very involved. Only first career home runs, inside the park home runs, or playoff clinching.

  2. If its a grand slam that wins the game, then..........YES

or if it wins the game period, how exciting is it to have a walk off home run win the game in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs. I have witnessed 2(josh hamilton against the angels) and last night with marlon byrd against the beloved yankees. Let me tell you it sure did shut the yankee fans up

    go rangers

  3. if it is hit in the ninth inning by a gimpy Dodger, other than that a homerun is a ball that is struck with a bat speed of 110 mph at a 35 degree angle and which travels 410 feet . . .  . no big deal (well, unless the walls are 420 feet away that is).

  4. Ya if they are hit hard. like that a-rod homerun that wnt like 460+ ft!

  5. If one is hit over 500 feet yes i do

  6. Yes they should only if it is a walk off or milestone homerun.

  7. Only if it's a home run of great importance. ( walk off, grand slam, pitcher hits HR, first ml homer or the home run derby)

  8. No, and a d**n soccer goal shouldn't be 2 or 3 either.

  9. It depends on wut kinda walk offs and who hits the hr's

like ken griffeys 600th hr, come on its a career milestone only 5 have done before him

The grand slam by felix hernades in the opposite field, he is a pitcher, AN AMERICAN LEAGUE PITCHER, hitting a grand slam of the 3 time all star johan santana, thats a top play

Marlon Byrd hitting the grand slam to walk off with the win, you never ever see that, and against the yankees, only 5 ppl have done that before, definatly a top play

And there are other exceptions like players getting there first hr's or a pinch hit walk off, something to win a game whn you down or tied is a little more spectacular than diving when you still loosing.

So yes i think they should be top plays, but i respect your opinion.

  10. no, the defensive diving plays are way better

  11. I don't think it should. It is homerun. Many times there are more than one in just a single game. I don't think they should have a spot on the top 10 plays.

  12. Walk offs don't really matter to me unless its a game were the teams are fighting it out for first place.

  13. Sure if they're walk-off grand slams. If you're losing 17-0 and you get a solo home run its not a top ten play

  14. first: how does one  star??? i have no clue! and second, depends on how far ball goes!!

  15. im beyond taking anything ESPN does seriously anymore..i actually feel like their top plays 6-10 are usually more talented feats than the 1-5 they put up there

  16. no

  17. No, there would be to many.  Well, unless it's a Grand Slam then that would comply.

  18. for josh hamilton like displays, and 500 foot shots

  19. yeah if its a shot like out of the stadium

  20. The question about the home run is, is it a top play?

Walk off home runs are great displays of clutch hitting. Also, milestone HR's deserve top play nomination as well. I think anything that helps a team just as much as a great defensive play deserves the top play highlight reel.

Just because it's a play, doesn't mean it has to happen with your glove or throwing arm. As long as they don't make a top play a normal home run I am fine with it.

Also, 500+ blasts deserve it to fill spots as well.

  21. The rationale behind having a homerun as a top play is the significance of the Home Run. Griffey's 600 HR was a top play because of the number, not because it was far or a walk off. When a batter hits a homer as part of a major comeback, that too deserves to be a top play because of what it means to that specific game. John Smoltz's 3000 K was a top play and it was just a strike out, but it meant that Smoltz has almost assured himself the Hall of Fame.

  22. I think they should have top 10 plays, then top 5 homeruns, where you can put your 500 foot whoppers and walk-off grand slams (Do the Byrd!!!). =D

I agree that diving plays are more exciting than most homeruns (excluding walk-offs)...

But the Yankees/Rangers game last night had it all!  Josh Hamilton made two great catches, Marlon Byrd had a diving catch, six different players hit homeruns...

The whole game was practically a highlight reel. =D

  23. Yea if the homerun was like 450+ feet, or if some fan makes a ridiculous catch or its the 500th homerun of the persons career. Even pitchers sometimes hit homeruns so its not that important.

  24. i think that who cares if its a hr

    there like 15 every day

    who cares about 1?

only if its a walk off, grand slam, by a pitcher, first hr in ml, or really long

i think that they should have top 10 plays then top ten hrs

  25. I have thought about this too. Technically it is a play and it does take not only skill but ability to do it in a high pressure situation. But I don't think it should be as high as 3 or 4 as you said diving catches and other amazing plays where players put their bodies through h**l (Rowand's catch into a fence or Jeter diving into an empty seat). Baseball Tonight does it right with Touch Em All and then Web Gems separate.
