  1. Oh yes b/c im homeschooled

  2. I certainly hope so!  There are so many children that will benefit from a home-study environment.

It became very popular in the mid 1980's and has continued to be proven as an excellent method of educaiton.

  3. mmmm....not sure i dont think so becase more & more people are more sociable now than they were before and they want to hang around with their friends and parents are now often working full time.

  4. It might!

My brothers sisters and I have all been homeschooled =) And my older sibblings are going to continue it, by homeschooling their children as well!

If families keep passing it on, then yeah! It could get extreamly popular.

However, some states do not allow homeschooling. Our mother lucked out, our lovely state of PA allows homeschooling.

There are also alot of Christistan people out there who want to keep their children from seeing all the bad things that can happen in a public school, thats part of the reason most families do homeschool. And if it means keeping their children safe, i guess any and all Mothers and Fathers would want that. Which could lead to making homeschool really, really popular.

=D It's true, homeschool is getting more and more popular every year!

Can't wait to see what will happen in the future :)

  5. absolutely! it is already growing by leaps and bounds. Sadly the reasons some parents are choosing this type of education, is for their children's safety, not just better education.

Thankfully, public school is not manditory.

  6. Definitely - it's been increasing by 10-20% or more each year for several years now.  With our schools declining and more and  more adult homeschooled grads committed to homeschooling their kids, yep, I think you'll see an increase.

(To one of the posters above - it's legal in all 50 states, just under different provisions.)

  7. With increasing technology methods for homeschooling will improve attracting even more parents in favour of this system

  8. Where I live it's becoming more popular by the week! So yes, definitely. There are so many people starting to home educate who say they'd have done it sooner if they'd known it was an option and with all the publicity where getting now it's pretty much certain to result in more people doing it.

  9. it has to- our schools have no more resources.  they have reduced themselves to glorified babysitters due to the mandatory attendance policies.  yet our students cant get the education they need to compete in the real world.  the only answer is homeschooling.  personally i dont think the government should continue its bricks and mortar way.  wouldnt all students at home, eating their own food using their own electricity be cheaper anyway? why not operate shool online?  oh thats right,  the school is where parents dump kids they have no time for.--- hence the need for homeschool.

  10. If it does....

    Should I buy the gun?

    ;)

  11. most definitely. with how bad the public schools are right now, especial middle school, they will be closed down in about 10-20 years

  12. I think that if allowed to flourish in an atmosphere of educational freedom, the number of people choosing homeschooling will continue to grow for any number of reasons that people choose this option.  (medical, quality of education, learning disabilities, etc.)

However, it appears as though the antagonism between the NEA and the concept of educational freedom and choice is growing with each passing year.  They are a powerful voice in the political machine and rather than using that power to focus solely on the improvement of the public education system, they seek to kill off their "perceived" competition.  Unfortunately it is the children that lose in a situation where options and competition to the public school system are taken off the table.  When you have no pressure to improve--why bother?  You have artificial superiority and artificial power.  These are the same "professionals" who laud the value of competition in the classroom setting and on the athletic field.  So they think it is good for others....just not themselves.

If, with the new administration coming in, the atmosphere for private schools, charter schools, homeschool, vouchers, etc. becomes ever more hostile.......I think people will find that ALL the children will suffer!  What an unfortunate outcome  that would be....especially if it occurs at the hands of those who profess to be the "experts" on "the best interests of the children."

  13. yes because i never thought that i will be homeschooled the last of 5 schools geting crazy

  14. Yes.  The public schools are realizing that there are many ways for people to learn and the classroom does not meet the need for all people.  This is the reason that alternative schools are being created within the public school system.  The high school where my husband and I work have the middle college program, alternative night school, home-bound, and online credit courses through Nova-net.  This is not homeschool, but it is a step in the right direction to provide different educational choices.

We homeschool  our son without any programs or store-bought "boxed" curriculum.   The age of technology and media have made this possible.   Everything we need for our education and for the education for our son are available through free resources at the library, online, used school textbooks that are thrown away by the public school, and cheap resources from used book stores.

  15. It's becoming more so every year. I think if the schools continue the decline they are in then it will definitely continue at the pace it's going if not faster.

Edit to add: Ellie Ana Home school is LEGAL in all 50 states.

  16. I think so, it seems like people are waking up to the inhumane ways children have been treated for years.

BTW, I'm so saddened every time I see someone assume that the word state only refers to the 50 in the US.  There are plenty of others in the world.  Try having an open mind, it doesn't behoove Americans to think inside the box.

And Max, you make me laugh ;)

  17. I don't know if it will but it should and I hope it does! I was homeschooled until 4th grade and if at all possible I'm going to home school my kids. When I have kids that is :).

Schools these days are getting so bad! Just this past week there were 3 fights during my lunch hour! It is pathetic that myself and others are expected to learn in an enviornment like this where kids are constantly beating eachother up and half the teachers hate their jobs. Mind you I go to a public school in a decent neighborhood, so wouldn't you expect the school to be a little better?

Lol, a kid in my chemistry class dropped out of school to be homeschooled about 2 months ago. I was so mad :( I wanted that to be me getting homeschooled again!

  18. Yes.  By the way, not all public schools are bad, like some of you have said. These kids that have gone to school w/guns?  Well, they are also your neighbors, shopping at the same stores, driving on your streets, and peers of your kids.  And becuase of these unfortuante situations, many public schools are more safe than ever. I feel like I might get flack for this answer, but it is just the truth.
