  1. I don't see how a 43 year old can be a 35 year old world class fighter.  THe only X factor is J Calz's lack of experience.  Let's face it, he's been a protected fighter his whole career, and beating B-Hop will help dispel some of that.

All that being said, maybe B-Hop has the best human growth hormone money can buy, and fights like a younger man?  There's no way to test for that kind of stuff, and B-Hop is the kind of dirtbag to use it.

  2. Not really no...unless Calzaghe breaks his fragile hands, gets a freak cut, or is robbed by the judges, like they tried to do to Lewis Vs Holyfield.

Hopkins will be too slow, his work rate wont be high enough, Calzaghe will be too mobile, too fast, too active for Hopkins.

Remember Hopkins has ducked Calzaghe in the past also, so i think Joe has the psychological edge  too.

As for those saying Calzaghe has not fought anyone, well he has beaten other world champs such as Mikkel Kessler, Charles Brewer, Byron Mitchell, Chris Eubank, Richie Woodhall, Bruno Girard and Jeff Lacy, as well as decent fighters like Saskio Bika, Omar Sheikha etc.

  3. No dont think so i think calzaghe will win, should be great fight,

i think hopkins is getting old he has to be his last fight.. i think he said this him self..

i think joe wants it more and i will be behind him all the way..

  4. It is the truth that some day some where  some one will. but he is a true champion. Fought the rest to be the best.  its hard to say. I have watched him for years and think he should stop now. But the ego, and lets face it there is no other reason for him to fight. says one more.  and there is plenty more to come but he should get out now. to answer ....no

Edit    after reading the other answers   it wont go the distance. no way.  stopped before the 8th

if it was to be fought properly it would be a miss match. money job

  5. Although Bernard is the underdog i think he wins a close split decision. Calzaghe is good but Bernard even in his 40's is a very skilled and crafty boxer.

  6. I dont see any way for hopkins can win unless he gets really lucky..but stranger things have happened and anyways its a fight Im not to bothered about seeing as I think it will be a bore unless calzage decides to raise eyebrows and put on a performance

  7. Being neither British nor American i can answer without any biased. Joe Calzaghe will outpunch, outthink and outmove Hopkins, Americans think because they haven't seen a lot of Calzaghe that he can't be that good, but he is and the boxing bible,'Ring Magazine' also value him very highly. Calzaghe has never ducked a fight but a lot of fighters have ducked him, maybe 3/4 years ago Hopkins could've lasted with him but not now and frankly i'll be shocked if i'm wrong.

  8. Yes, he owns southpaws.

  9. You're going to get 2 sets of answers for this  one from us Brits and one from the Americans. Hopkins is 42. There is no way he'll match Joe's workrate over 12 rounds, unanimous points decision to Joe. And I predicted Hatton to lose to Floyd.

It may also be worth remembering that Cazaghe has been struggling to make the super middle limit for a few years now, so size will not play a factor in this fight. Put your house on Calzaghe.

  10. In a word, no. Simple as that.

  11. Yes, it is possible for him to win, and I will be rooting for him, but I favor Joe Calzaghe in this fight.  Calzaghe is the younger man and has a very high work rate and it will be hard for Hopkins to match it at this stage of his career (if this were fought a few years ago, like it was supposed to, then I would favor Hopkins).  On the other hand Hopkins is undefeated against southpaws and he has faced the much better opposition over the course of his career.  If Hopkins can't win this fight, then I'm sure he will do everything he can to turn it into a boring, ugly Calzaghe victory.

  12. Unlikely, but possible, we will see.  I think Bernard is a serious underdog, but then other than Kessler, Joe hasn't fought many serious threats.  B Hop is a step up for Joe.  I think Hopkins can beat Joe, if Joe allows it to happen.  The odds are against Hopkins, age and the activity level of Calzaghe should get Joe the decision.

  13. Yes easy hopkins has fought tough guys and world class fighters.Joe has fought middle class fighters and fights old good fighters wanting a well paid last fight win or lose.

  14. n0

  15. i think the question should be can calzaghe beat hopkins.

calzaghe has fought nobody.add to that hes never fought in america.

  16. odds are against hopkins but it is not an impossiblity that hopkins beats calzaghe, i say calzaghe will beat hopkins, but hopkins is a master and definetly has a chance.. don't forget he is more experienced than calzaghe and calzaghe hasn't had the competition that hopkins had, i want hopkins to win being a fan of him, its gonna be a great fight between two great fighters

  17. you bet,Ive got a deal of money riding on Hopkins to outsmart this dude,Calzaghe wont win me over untill he fights a real deal like Pavlic, then start spouting and leave the geriatrics a nd bankers alone!!!!!!!!!!!!Failing Bhop not breaking his hip falling I cant see him losing in his own back yard and second home to this mickey mouse never has been,Hopkins to whack him midway, say rnd 7!

  18. i think calzaghe will outpoint b-hop in their upcoming fight...i can't see hopkins taking too many chances, and calzaghe will take it in a fight void of too much excitement
