Do you think humans will ever have gills?

Wednesday Evening

Hot and humid air so thick

I’m trying to breathe soup.

Forgo the porch tonight.

Even cats show no interest.

Impertinent geckos staring

through misted screens.

An iced coffee, high summer

need the fans on, cool shower

Oh - I hope gills will come - but I think that webbed fingers may be first. We were taught that the human embryo has "gill slits" in one part of its development - this was to "prove" the theory of the evolution of man from fish. Now, scientists are arguing and saying this is wrong (per the group called The Revolution Against Evolution). Maybe, we did come from Mars then ♥

Global warming in Antarctica?  To answer your question about gills, did not Kevin Costner have them in Waterworld?  And I thought a nurse would keep up on all the human adaptations going on in this world!  

As to your poem, you painted a hot muggy night scene well, except I would opt for iced tea.  Stay cool.

Come see me, and we can sit on my glassed in air-conditioned veranda and sip iced mint juleps and recite poetry until it gets cool enough to go outside and chase fireflies like kidlets.
