  1. I was on Mars two years ago, but I couldn't find a hockey rink, so I came back.

  2. yes, though i don't think they will find "little green men" there.

  3. If each have the courage and money to go there why not. Astronauts are studying if there will be life in Mars cause they said there is water there. There might be a possibility that we can live there someday.

  4. Yes. Around 2037 (depends on everyone's age if we'll see it in our lifetime), NASA has planned to put a man or woman on Mars. Here is one of the site: http://www.marsdaily.com/reports/NASA_ai...

There are more information about this subject, Google it. Hoped I helped.

  5. Well I'm young and so I would hope to see it in our lifetime.

I am very disappointed that the government cut the Mars-direct mission, but hopefully we will get a solid one soon.

I think that we will eventually have somewhat of a scientific colony on the planet, and maybe someday, a civilian colony.

Like I said, I thought Mars-direct was a great idea, and they may reopen it now. Because of new advanced technology, some of the ideas pointed out in the proposal would be easier to achieve.

I do think that the only way the human species can escape the inevitable extinction is to become an inter-planetary species. With the growing population, one planet isn't going to be enough in the far future. Right now we are fine, but in the next couple hundred years or so, our planet is going to get crowded.

And I think it would be kind of fun to live on Mars where there is less gravity. Supposedly over the course of a couple hundred thousand years, we can terraform the planet to have about the same temperature as Earth, have natural running, liquid water, and to have a thicker atmosphere, and maybe... just maybe... naturally oxygenated. That would be amazing.

But simply landing on Mars and colonizing on Mars are two different things.

So far the major problem we face is the psychological problems. These astronautes would have a trip of at least 3 months just to get to the planet. Over all, it would be at least a year long round trip, possibly more. And imagine the psychological effects this would have on people. But as technology advances, our spaceships get faster and faster. I have no doubt that a man will step foot on Mars before 2050, and possibly a colony shortly after that. We can only hope!

  6. You are correct on your last statement. However, we would also be broke.

Yes they probably will, but no I don't support it. We cannot simply ignore starving and waterless people in Africa and Darfur to go to Mars on a scientific vacation.

  7. Oh, without a doubt.  There is a commercial on the Science Channel (promoting the Science Channel), featuring Buzz Aldrin.  Buzz says that he thinks that the private sector can get to Mars in 25 years.  If so, that would mean that they would not only beat NASA to Mars, but that commercial space flight would likely be relatively reasonably priced, which is a great thing for everybody.

  8. Well we have been talking about it for a long time.  Missions to Mars used to be a thing of science fiction back in the earlier 1900's but it is more realistic now than ever.  With the recent discovery on Mars of the existence of water ice will further support our venture to the red planet.  I very much believe so that we will travel there in our lifetime.  If I had to make an educated guess based on speculation from current and former presidents and NASA I would say we will set foot on its surface within the next 20 years.  I hope this helps answer your question.  Goodluck!

  9. Which is more probable?

We went to the Moon with less computer power than a modern digital watch, and we're going back. Then to mars, and off to Zeta Reticuli.
