And what will humans have achieved by the year 3000, if we're still here?

  1. Barring an unforeseen natural (or man-made) disaster, we'll still be around.  We're tough, smart, adaptable, hard to kill, and we can breed like nobody's business.  I think there will be far fewer of us, though.  By then we'll have realized that our actions of the last few centuries were crazy and stupid, and we have no business crowding out the rest of the life on this planet.  This realization will come two ways:  either through our own wisdom, or through Nature making the choice for us through disease and environmental issues.  As well, I believe that we will learn ways to live with a lighter footprint even as our technology continues to evolve and advance--it is becoming increasingly clear that we really don't have a choice in the matter.  We'll have colonies on the Moon, Mars, and the moons of other planets in the solar system by then, and we'll likely be exploring places outside of our own solar system, and meeting other civilizations (or finding traces of them).  Any science fiction writer will tell you that the key to mankind's long term survival is getting off the planet--that way we never have to worry about a planet-wide disaster wiping us out.

  2. I think the earth will be non-existent by then.

  3. Unless the Earth disintegrates, two things might happen to man

    1) He will reach the bottom of the order of all living things on the world, which means he will have to struggle for existence, a bit like the early men

    2) He will become a superpower and will be super-technologised and may make contact with the extra-terrestrial

Whatever happens, life will evolve, and the human body will evolve, eg. coping mechanisms to global warming.

Sources say that man will grow taller, and their index and thumb fingers will grow longer as they are most used.

But we musn't rule out alien activity, nature of space and all other scientific happenings in space which could destroy the Earth even tomorrow!

  4. Of course we will still be around, just think how adaptable we have become in the last millenium.

We are the modern day cockroaches, capable of adapting to anything. By the year 3000 we will probably look like them too.
