  1. Hello,

Well this question depends on your hair texture and what you do to your hair.

I assume that you probably have very kinky hair like teh average African American. Tightly curly hair.

If so then I am going to tell you now:

If you perm your hair, apply heat to your hair, etc your chances of getting your hair "long" are slim. Very few African American women ever accomplish natural hair length pass their shoulders, or at least 2 inches pass. And IT IS NOT because of their hair texture, it is because of WHAT they are doing to their hair.

If you would like long hair you should

A.) Lock your hair up. You can get traditional locks which are hand rolled, but you could also get sisterlocks which are tiny locks and many women are getting them over traditional because they allow for more versatility.

2.) Wear your hair NATURAL and let it grow (and it WILL grow). After a certain lenght you should straighten it to see if it as at the desire length that you want.. Because if you you have kinky hair then your hair will grow "up" (in an afro) instead of "down".

this isn't a matter of genetics... this is a matter of what you do to your hair. Did you know the curlier your hair, the easier it is to break off? Again, if you are perming or applying heat you are pretty much damaging your hair.

If you don't believe that you can accomplish long hair, just look at young African American girls (around 5) who still have thier natural hair texture. Can't you see how healthy looking their hair is? And on top of that how long it is? This is because their parents haven't yet gotten them a perm and started pressing their hair--- causing stress.

You probably had long hair when you were little like a lot of black girls. But you probably ended up with a perm or the habit of applying heat to yoru hair... and VOILA your hair broke off, hair line receeded, etc.

there are probably going to be a lot of people telling that you CAN have long hair with a perm.... but look at most of the women around you with perms? Do they have long hair? NO. And most of them would probably wont very long hair too.

    So go natural honey.

    Get locs, they are beautiful.

If you insist on one "straight" hair though, then go natural and then wait to press your hair.

  2. i dont think so. who do u look more like? if u have mixed family then its possible to grow long.

  3. Hmm, I dunno. My mom, when she was my age her hair was about inches past her shoulders but the women on my dad's side hair doesn't grow too much. When I was 14 my hair was a tiny bit past my shoulders but never grew much more than that. I have short hair now though...

  4. ya definately.  just take good care of it. dont dye it all the time or put a bunch of heat on it. let it air dry instead of blowdrying, dont straiten it every day, stuff like that.  and use a good shampoo, conditioner, deep condition once a week, and use a hair protecting spray if u do striaghten, blow dry, curl, any kind of applying heat to ur hair.  and i reccomend herbel essences long term relationship split end cream to take care of ur ends

  5. umm well it doens't matter who your family is. just don't cut your hair and take care of it.

  6. umm idk .. i think it should be cuz all hair grows..

  7. 50 50 chance probably if it did it wouldn't look good at the bottom if it wasnt good but you might be lucky

  8. um yeah take care of it and itll grow

  9. If you leave it alone, you hair will grow. Things like poor nutrition and over-dying it can inhibit growth and strength but as long as you take proper care of your hair, it will be long eventually.

  10. it doesn't matter your hair grows just let it grow out i did and mines past my butt

  11. hair growth isnt genetic...if you take care of it it will grow as long as you let it

  12. it is possible
