Alright.. I ****** up my middle school years and now i'm in 11th grade. If I do good on the SATs/ACTs, and get good grades my last two years of school, even though i'm not in Avanced Placement classes... Will I be able to get into a regular University without transfer? Im not talking Ivy league at all, but not state or community either, im talking just regular acedemic Universities. Oh and if it makes a difference, I want to major in Clincal Psychology.

  1. Get a HS diploma and a 2 GPA then no problemo eg Evergreen College will have you:

But to save money and get a better choice of school think about going to a CC first.

    Thanks

  2. Middle school has nothing to to with college. Its actually considered a waste of 3 years. I suggest looking at www.collegeboard.com at the school you want to go to and it will tell you how you add up to some of its current students. The one thing colleges look for is an improvement in grades and class levels during High School. So say you went from a d-average freshman year to a high B- average senior year with some honors classes, they will accept you. Also try to get some extra-curricular activities in there, even if its chess club or somthing.

  3. Here's some advice from an old guy.

If you want to get into a school, you will.  Maybe not right after High School, but if you want it you will be able to do it.

Tests can be retaken.  As often as you want... until you get the scores you need to be admitted.  Don't stress over whether or not someone (anyone) thinks that you're good enough or not.  That's absurd.  Even if you don't make it the first time around - keep studying and retaking the tests until you get the scores you want.

Rejections are there only to keep out the people who don't want it bad enough (that goes for everything in life, by the way, not just school admissions).

HS grades are important, but if you get retarted good scores on your SATs, you can always say "I F'd up in High School because I didn't know any better, but I've got my S*** together now and I'm ready to learn."  Of course you'll want to use language that's a bit more diplomatic than that, but trust me - I speak from experience when I tell you that you will get what you want if you put forth an honest effort - even if you messed up in the past.

Don't judge yourself by your past... your past is who you ~were~.  It's not who you are today or tomorrow, if you don't want it to be.

  4. Probably yes.  State universities can be very good academically.  You go to college for "Psychology", not clinical psychology...you will need to take statistics, research, testing, etc. also.

When you go for Masters/PhD program...then you can specialize.

Actually a PsyD. degree is more clinically oriented than a PhD.

    Good luck.

  5. If your recent academic work is very good, you should be okay regarding getting into a good university.  Just make sure when you get in that you continue getting good grades!

Best of luck in your future studies!
