  1. I think your weird for likeing the 142 pacer they have a rough ride

  2. No, don't think that at all.

Why would you even think that.

  3. in some cases people might call you wierd but i use the word unique. there arent many other people out there who have the same hobby as you, but its better than doing drugs, commiting crimes, etc.

p.s. WHY CARE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK?

  4. Trainspotter, foam-er, rail buff........these aren't dirty words.  And if something unique is happening on the right of way today the rails themselves will be out to check it out.  Anyone who says they wouldn't are being less than candid.

And, unless someone is pushy or overbearing, we like talking to them.  It is yet another chance to bring up the topic of safety.  There is no harm in watching, chasing, photographing, etc., or asking questions.

A life long rail, I model them as well, and I don't care who doesn't like it.   I am comfortable in my skin.

Of course you may indeed be weird, but not because of your hobby.  Have fun, stay back, stay aware, stay safe and stay alive.

    Happy hunting.

  5. Lots of horrid Pacers in the north east of England operated by 'Northern Rail' - truly ghastly ride on poor rails - but alright on continuous welded rail. They are quite spartan - being just  a bus body on a heavier undercart! - The local nickname for them is 'Nodding Donkeys'

  6. Everyone has a geeky hobby of some kind - people will think you are weird - but chances are they do something weirder.

Thankfully this area is pacer free - they couldn't cope with the westcountry corners

  7. yes your very weird.

  8. Okay I have seen the Pacer and it's a powered rail car not a complete locomotive.  Looks very good and very comfortable, I'm sorry to say that in the U.S. we have had to wait for the powers to be to go back to the beginning.  Believe it or not in L.A. there where what at the time was called the Red car system.  What it was was a trolley that took you everywhere, but since buses were coming out; they were phased out.  Now  we struggle with air pollution and traffic congestion and await the new infrastructure for very costly subway systems...And yes of course for Metrolink and Amtrak.

  9. that is a great train but I like the sd-90 locomotives better.
