Do you think i am ready?

Question

well i want cichlids.my filter is on and working.my homemade back-up filter is working.my heater is on and working.my air pump is working.pH is 8.2. my temperature is 78.and my ammonia monitor is at safe.i have many hiding places and plants.

do you think i am ready for my cichlids?

no, take a fat pinch of fish food and throw it in, test your water until ammonia and nitrite are undetectable

Usually you want to run the tank for 24 hours prior to getting any fish. If you've done that then you should be ready. The ph seems a little high but most fish can adapt well. Keep an eye on it and think about neutralizing it if it gets any higher.

That sounds good. The pH is right for cichlids.  As long as you have dechlorinated you'll be fine. Make sure you know how many fish the tank can support.
