my friend and coworker got fired.

The new manager never liked my friend, is very demanding, rude and i think she is dating the district manager. So, since she didn't like my friend she fired her over a stupid excuse. ( my friend was just an hour late.)

so, since it's a gym were i work and workout at.

The next time i go and workout on my day off i just want to give the manager a piece of my mind. ( i won't curse at all)

So, do you think i can get fire?

  1. are you kidding, an hour late no big deal. its a big deal, bigger if she never called in late. if you get in a managers face off work time, its a chance you take and yes they could, not for that maybe but now your on the radar. let your friend learn her lesson, stop sticking up for the whole world. let me see, would i have a job if i told the owner of my compnay off on my day off..YES!! you go to work to work, produce, and earn pay, not to have fun. you both need to do some growing upl

  2. Yes  being an hour late is a reason to fire someone.  On or off the clock if you give a manager a piece of your mind you will not have a job.

Have you heard of at-will employer.  Which means your employer can fire you for any reason!

  3. You can be let go on a day off, although they may wait for you to get to work to advise you of it

  4. I am sorry about your friend. Unfortunately, they were justified in terminating her employment. She was supposed to be on time. She wasn't. Sometimes, an example has to be made. Either way, your friend is a big girl. She can fight her own battles. Do not confront this manager. Here are my reasons:

1- it is NOT your fight

2- what goes on between this manager and your friend is none of your business

3- you may look like you are copping an attitude. Then TWO of you will be unemployed.

4- You will deprive your friend of the dignity of digging herself out.

    Here's what you CAN do!

1- Support your friend. Offer a reference

2- Help her look for work

3- Don't let her get depressed or feel worthless

4- Assure her that she will probably end up better off. Usually after you are forced to look, you end up better off.

  5. I wouldn't do it only because then she'll make your life h**l til you quit or she finds a reason to fire you next.

  6. A) your friend being late is  a valid reason.  There are millions of people that need any work they can get that would bother to show up on time.  B) If you blow up at your boss on or off the clock it can still effect your job.  Is this your first one or something?  Never talk back to your boss unless you are ready to get a new job.

  7. Unless you too want to be looking for work I would stay out of this. Let your friend settle this.

  8. You might get fired,  but you can take it to court and the manager will likely get fired and your friend and the coworker can get their job back.

  9. "Just an hour late" would be grounds for firing in any job I ever had.

Yes, you can be fired for giving your boss a piece of your mind on your own time. I'm thinking you may not have any mind to spare, actually, so I advise against it.

  10. I suggest you to do is go over the district manager, and till on both the manager and the district manager on how rude a nasty they ask towards you coworker. Do give her a piece of your mind, because its just wasting you time. Go over there heads and till the head boss that's in charge.

  11. Oh Yeah.
