  1. Any thermometer can be used as long as it will give you the actual reading of the food.  Which should be 109 degrees.  Make sure that it is thoroughly mixed so that there are no hot spots in the mix.

    Having the temperature too hot can cause crop burn and too low can cause slow crop.  

    That thermometer can work as long as the food is thoroughly mixed.

  2. I don't think that would work.  That thermometer is just for taking animals temperature.  Do you think you could find something better?  Or if you go to Petsmart you can talk to someone and find the best thermometer for that.  Good luck!

  3. Use a meat/baking/food thermometer from the grocery store.  Others may go above 100, but they aren't intended for use at high temps. so they won't be accurate.  Because food cools so quickly, it will need to start out too hot (115 or so), and you need to be able to measure that exactly.
