  1. You should visit your local optometrist/ eye doctor who will assess whether your eyes are naturally focused or whether you actually have to actively exert yourself to focus on the things you're looking at.

Its possible your longsighted or have astigmatism (where you don't focus light into 1 point/ sharp image onto the back of your eye)

This would leave your eyes feeling tired and strained; especially if your staring at the screen. - You never mentioned your age nor whether you just started this computer work or not

(age = as we approach the age of 40-50  the lens in our eyes becomes less flexible and so you have to exert EVEN MORE energy when focusing at things up close.

If this is a new task and your not used to using the VDU then it might be that your workstation set up is poor with lots of reflections on the screen and your not taking enough "visual breaks" - staring as far into the distance as you can until everything that your looking at is clear before returning to the screen.)

Either way you should visit your eye specialist and get your eyes assessed.

I would guess by your spelling that you can't see the screen very well! x

  2. You must be slightly far sighted with a muscle balance problem.

What am I saying?  How would I have any idea of what is going on,  especially without examining you.

Obviously I don't know what I am talking about.  This just shows the wisdom of getting in for an exam.

The doctor might solve this with lenses and excercise and lenses  or excercise alone.  I am thinking of one particular procedure which you can do in the office.

    OK, Ill tell you.

    1)  Take a small letter, the smallest you can find and hold it at about 16 inches and fixate on it and bring it close to your eyes keeping it clear all the time.  Can you come in to 8 or so inches without it going into two or getting blurrry?  You didn't say how old you are so I can't tell you how far you may be able to come in.  Do some of these.

    2)  Alternate your fixation from far to near repeatedly.  Use a small object that requires accute vision in the distance and alternate from one to the other about 10 times or so, one or twice a day.  (This is the universal eye excercise if there is a universal eye excercise.)

No,  I take it back; skip the procedures.  Just go in for an exam.
