  1. I doubt it.  I think he was just pandering to a few vocal constituents the first time he tried to ban it.  Now it is so popular he wouldn't dare go after it.

  2. No, McCain will not ban MMA.  He has said recently the "sport has grown up."  MMA has rules and regulations - it has changed drastically, and has becomes American's fastest growing sport because it features the finest and most highly trained athletes in the world.  It is NOT "ultimate fighting" nor is it "no rules" nothing of the sort.

Here are the rules enforced by all state athletic commissions:

Here is an excellent program on MMA:

MMA has tougher steroid and drug testing than ANY other sport.  Fighters must pass rigorous medical exams in order to compete, and all fights have stringent medical supervision regulations.  And your average fighter is much harder working and more intelligent than your average baseball/football/basketball player but gets paid much less.

  3. You just gave me a GREAT reason to vote for McCain!

  4. not much has changed besides the refs jumping in a little earlier

but heck sometimes that doesnt happen either (magliotta..sp?)

pride sanctionned open weight class tournaments not to long ago ...

gloves ..whoope those were introduced to protect the fighter not

the opponent..mccain doent know a rear naked choke from his

    rear end.

  5. I believe that mccain was against the old UFC style of fighting..  No rules (almost) no weight classes.. The new UFC is sanctioned by an athletic comission. The old ufc was brutal and soo much better to watch.. I remember the legend Royce Gracie battling thru 3 & 4 guys in the same night ..!! AHHH the good ole days  lol..

PS: I love how people read my comment about "sanctioned and athletic commission"  and insert it into their comment (look below) and add a few facts !! COPYCATS!!

  6. He went after it in the early days before there were rules and sanctions.  The UFC we watch now is a totally different thing than UFC 1.  He won't touch it.

  7. even if he did, do you think underground fighting rings will stop what they are doing?? back in the past, there was an illegal organization called the NHB (No Holds Barred) fights. These fights were very messy, probably a lot messier than the UFC since cheating was something common when cameras weren't used at a full advantage, even tho the athletes new they'd get disqualified, but it was ALL about the MONEY.

  8. He will have you trained in it and then send you to fight various wars and skirmishes. Have fun next presidential term.

  9. Thats why we should bring back George W Bush back in 2008.

  10. Alex is right, its too popular now so there's no way he'll ban it
