that this would allow for greater home based talent to nurture within our nations and then give better players for the seperate teams in the future?

  1. There will never be a great Britain team in the Olympics (the "great Britain" team in 2012 will be made up of English players only) - if Scotland , Ireland and wales agreed to such a thing that would be the end , there would be no more international teams from those nations only a great Britain team in the world cup , euro championships etc.

  2. The Olympics happen once every 4 years whereas the European and World Championships alternate every 2 years... The Olympics themselves have very little impact in the football world in comparison to the other competitions.

The reason why there is a lack of British footballing talent is mainly due to cost. A top team can buy several top quality players from abroad for 8 to 9 million pounds but a home grown player tends to demand much more.

Consider the case of Darren Bent, an OK English player but bought for the same price as Thierry Henry... I know who i'd prefer in my squad.

Once English players become less greedy you'll see a change in the attitude of the premiership

  3. No way.(Anyway, Argentina would beat  Great Britain being together or in separate countries)
