Question:

Do you think images of death and how it's conceived are only made in the image of the one imagining it?

Does this necessarily mean that religions are always only capable of reinforcing the beliefs that we want to have or do they offer something else?

Any opinions based on any belief system are welcome! Thank you!

  1. Images of abstract nouns are always conceived differently.

  2. I believe that the answer to your first question is yes. Beliefs may vary because each person has their own interpretation of those beliefs, independent of others who may follow the same basic tenets. In that sense, each person has their own religion which may or may not coincide with that of members of the same faith community.

I only know that death is not the end; it is the passage from one form of life to another completely different. I don't remember being born, either. And I'm sure it was traumatic enough, being squeezed out like toothpaste from a tube!

I personally agree with the poet who wrote: "Death is only a quiet door in an old wall." The important thing is what's on the other side.

I am a Christian but I would never have the arrogance to say I know what the afterlife is like. Only that it's a good thing.
