  1. We can already talk to monkeys with signs!  And certain animals like dogs and pigs and such can understand a decent amount.  But beyond that... I don't really think that we will be able to truly share language with animals until animals develop the ability to actually have language.  This won't happen for a looong time, if ever.  I mean... monkeys are smart, but because their vocal tracts are shaped as they are, they do not have the physical ability to produce true speech sounds.  As a result, their species cannot develop a language.  And as a result of that... it is awfully hard to communicate with monkeys!

  2. I think for some animals we'll be able to emit some sort of sound waves and clicks to communicate with dolphins! But still not cats, or dogs, and other animals. I think that just requires understanding body language.

    Other inventions I think:

    - Like hybrid cars that run on biodiesel

    - Electric cars that are truly more efficient

    - the AI chip for human-like robots

    - attach the mind into a computer to move the mouse

    - give people who lost their limbs a 'thought-connected' artificial limb

  3. I'm sure we are getting close.  I do recall hearing about a collar made in China that was placed around a dog's neck so they could understand the simple things  the dog was saying.  Who knows if they truly know that it works.  I don't think I want them to make an invention so that we understand what animals say because I think that whatever they are saying should be left unknown.

  4. yes probaly even being able to play IN video games!thatll be awesome talking to your fav video game characters

or make characters come to real life

but i think this would way harder than going into the game...i dont think this invetion will come out

  5. No, because lacking such an invention is not what is keeping humans from speaking with animals now. Animals do not possess the kind of intelligence that is required, in order to truly comunicate by using language.

Even dolphins, which are amonst the most intelligent of the animals, are capable of doing the many impressive things which they do, mostly as a result of conditioning. The dolphins level of intelligence, being higher than most other animals, is simply what makes them easier to train. In fact, most animals are not even capable of being trained to do many of the things which dolphins can do.

Sometimes, when research programs have been conducted, involving the great apes, or dolphins. There has been the effort to try and achieve with the animals, something that is beyond an animals behavior that is a result of conditioning.

Sometimes, things have appeared to be something more, but whatever they may have really been. Animals cannot think in abstract ways. They cannot conceptualize something. They cannot even grasp an understanding of the concept of "concept" itself.

    An ancient Greek proclaimed

    " I think, therefor , I am"

Can an animal, even a Chimp, be aware of it's own thinking? It would first have to be aware of the existance, and have an understanding of,

    the concept of "thought".

To be capable of being aware that he is capable of, and possessing a function of the mind, which is.........." thought".

That last paragraph may sound like something which you might be shaking your head at. In writing it, I wasn't really interested in it's factual correctness. But rather, if you look at it, it's what animals are incapable of. The use of language to communicate abstract thought.  Then there's the little problem of being physiologicaly capable of speaking. Of which, I believe, only some birds are capable of speaking. Even then, when compared to us, their ability is quite limited.

It looks as though "birds" are going to have to prove to possess the intelligence enough to understand and use language. Being that they're the only ones amongst the animals, that would be capable to make use of it. There is just one little problem. Which is that, they have a reputation of being a bunch of "bird-brains".
