I am planning to take a holiday in Cancun but have just seen the alert regarding hurricane Olga currently over Santo Domingo. Does anybody has additional information regarding its direction, intensity and period?

  1. The sub tropical storm will be gone by the time you arrive in Cancun next week on Friday.

Not to worry, go and enjoy your trip. It is kind of weird to have a tropical storm this late in the season.

Have a great trip. You can also keep up with the progress of the storm on this site.)

  2. The forecast model only extends for the next several days and though it is heading in the general direction of the Yucatan Penninsula, there are no projections yet.

You can follow it over the next few days at this website:

  3. According to the five-day cone from The National Hurricane Center, Olga is heading toward the Yucatan Peninsula. But it looks like that would put Olga over the region early next week, say Sunday and Monday.

I would say that by Friday of your travels, the storm would be well gone by then.
