  1. Mussolini said that government in Italy was not only impossible, it was irrelevant.

From the link, it seems that they will be patrolling big cities, not your area.

They could be acting on Intelligence, so it may not be ridiculoso at all.

  2. idk

  3. When soldiers hit the streets in any country, it is sending a powerful signal to the world outside that the civil authorities and the police have simply lost the plot.

Italy needs to get a grip of itself.  The tourist industry in Italy is worth billions of Euros and troops on the streets are not going to encourage anyone to go there.

I'm going to Sorrento at the end of August 08 with my partner - all we want to do is eat Italian, drink Italian and pretent to be Italian for a few short days.  If that is messed up by soldiers in the streets, then Italy will simply be scrubbed off our list of holiday destinationd.

    What on Earth is happening?

However you look at it, it looks like a military coup from here.

The only way we see troops here in UK is like this. . . .

. . .and that's how it should be.

  4. This is what you get when you vote in ridiculous politicians such as Mr Berlusconi as your Prime Minister.

Remember Mussolini and remember how his ridiculous government ruined your beautiful country and killed hundreds of thousands of people.

    It could happen again.

  5. I would hate to see the military patrolling the streets of the UK, I feel it all rather sinister, mind you, I'd feel a little that way if our police carried firearms. If there are some really bad areas their presence might help, but it's a bit of a bad omen that it's considered necessary.

  6. They should do it in the UK London Manchester et al., maybe that would put a halt to all the knife crime..good idea.
