I want to work in a hotel I will start in housekeeping if I have to but with my current job I hate. I cant get off until evening. The only time I have is Sat and Sun. I want to work nights. I know it may appear to be unorthrodox but I want to show them that I really want a job.

  1. If you were applying at a business that was open only M-F, 8-5, then it would be bad.

However, a hotel is open 24/7.  So, I don't think it would be a problem to apply on a Sunday.

However, keep in mind the head manager probably won't be there, so you may have to come back for an interview.

  2. Most likely, the hiring manager works regular weekday hours.

For a housekeeping position, though, you could quite possibly get an application, fill it out and turn it in. Then call the hotel during the work week, ask for the "Hiring Director," and say you're following up on the application you left.

    Good luck.

P.S.: Hotels don't have housekeeping jobs where you can work nights. Guests are sleeping. Maybe laundry would be better for your hours.

  3. I don't know.  I was told by someone that the weekend is not a good time to apply for a job, but I don't believe it.  It shouldn't make a difference.

Just don't show up at odd hours, visit during the day.

But I don't really know, and I'm interested to see what other people think.

  4. I think it's a fine idea. Often you wouldn't get to speak directly to the hiring manager on your first trip anyway, and would be given an application to fill out and turn in.

If you do that today, your application will be the first thing they see tomorrow morning! Go for it!
