Do you think it's about time for a bridge between Trinidad and Tobago?

The distance between Trinidad and Tobago is about 20 miles. Who thinks it's about time they build a bridge or tunnel to connect the two. The longest bridge on record is about 23 miles long so it can be done. The government spent a few million on those ferries, who thinks it should have went towards building something to connect the islands?

5 - gosh i buss somebody help meh -- oh 'Bago could get REAL doubles

  2. Sounds great... shouldn't cost more than a few BILLION dollars... and with the robust economies on Trinidad and Tobago they should be able to start construction any time... OH>.. the economies are NOT robust, you say?... well... then why don't YOU build the causway or bridge and then YOU can collect all the tolls.

It's not going to happen because there is nobody that can afford to build it and there is very little financial or political reasons to build it.

  3. Great Idea but not realistic. You have to think about what will happen to  the planes that fly to Tobago from Trinadad and the Ferry too... Both Islands will start getting heavy traffic and cause an uproar....Easy access for them gangs and thief's to do mischief in Tobago and drive back to Trinidad....Leave Tobago alone so when a Trini go by ferry or plane  they feel like they going on a holiday...Great Idea but it wont work......bd

  4. 1. Most Tobagonians ain't go take too kindly that Trini's could just drive across just so, when is Easter and August they does done be asking where all ah dem going!

    2. Why should someone who lives in Deigo have to drive all the way to Toco to get to Tobago?

    3. Them ferries real nice and it gives you time to meet and greet new people or people you haven't seen long time.

    4. Tourism: If ah tourist coming from Tobago and want to see Trinidad, mainly P.O.S, which taxi service they using to journey that 23miles?

    5. IF they lucky enough to get a taxi to bring them across, they ending up in Toco?...... By the time the people reach P.O.S with all that driving.......them dead and tourism dead too.

I use that ferry every week and l love them bad bad.

  5. I used to wonder the samething! But according to Julien ...it have the bad to that too...unless it is properly managed..and proper managment of anything in trinidad leaves much to be desired. We cyah even get we bus service down good...or the highway they building from wallerfield since ah cyah remember. Ah overpass by nestle take so long...and that eh 15 miles of nothing. Maybe one day it might actually be a realisation...but the way things does operate in this country....they cyah build a bridge to paria, much less tobago.

  6. nah man jaz, people from diego could still take the ferry. and people from south could still do what dey were doing before...ferry or plane.

even thou i could see an excursion from south to bago eh.

i dont have problem with the bridge, but TUNNEL??? nah man, dat have to go under ground...after all that concrete and stone fall on yuh, if you ent dead you still have to deal with d ocean.  at least with the bridge you may? have a fighting chance of surviving.

  7. But wait nuh...  Last time Manning bring dis up in his speech in the 1999 or 2000 budget he say one French Company was going to build the Bridge...  (After that iz when he come up wid all dis talk about a Gas pipeline stretching all-about the Caribbean region)...

If you remember he also promise dat following hurricane Ivan, that T&T need to start looking at burying all of the electricity infrastructure too and ting...  Anyway...  Anyway, when all dis bridge to Tobago idea was talked about on-all de radio after Manning's budgets speech (from what I could remember) it was all de Tobago people dat was claiming how all de criminals "gon' take the bridge to go prey on dem" and they say how "they ent want the bridge" and they support having the expensive ferry and Tobago-Express air-bridge instead so all de tief and kidnappers and thing can't go reach by dem.  ...  Dey say how dey affaid to take the bridge because of earthquake and ting all kinda  bachannal in de place over the bridge....

Eventually, I think T&T should build it, but I wondering about how much opposition we go get from Tobago? We better go and call de Tobago House of Assembly and the NAR first nuh....

  8. yes. Now going to Tobago is easier. Crab and dumplin here I come but there is one thing too take into concideration workers s***w up things down here. If they make a bridge that bridge would be screwed. We sleeping with the fishes.

  9. I was born in port of Spain and i stayed until i was 14 i don't think so cause trini will loose money if they don't transport people to Tobago and Tobago will loose money if they cant transport people back I'll check for you cause I'm going in 8 days (but i doubt it)

  10. lmao @ julien..

this weekend lookin like ah fishin one, hah.

good idea, but may never materialize..

julien have some good points doh..hehe..

  11. yeah sure thing .....past time it should be built.......im not sure i will use the bridge but it will be nice to have it hehehe

  12. Everybody done say d t'ing.

Julien boy I ain't good get outta bed and yuh had men deading.  Oh gosh boy yuh so so right with dem answers.

Boy drinks with you go ha stories to tell for years. Somebody beat you with ah good dotish stick.

  13. Bridges cool , but people who hah money does build "Tunnels" and T&T have that in abundance

  14. Girl I'll be the first to hop, skip, jump, run or drive across!  It should be from Toco to Scarborough and have a lookout as well!

The drive could be from 15 - 20 minutes and the toll should be reasonable ($20 dollars per car load).  A separate road should be constructed for Heavy Vehicles or let them take the ferry.

No Tunnels - to spooky and weird and besides look how many corrupted buildings and projects we already have, next thing de thing collapse!!!!   Yes I suppose the bridge could crumble too, but yuh may have a chance!!!

  15. A bridge to tobago is a great idea not only will the price for everything drop (due to not having to pay cargo cost) but toursim will increase because of getting to vist two islands for the price of one. The bridge will generate jobs because a bridge that size requires regular maintainence and the toll fee is an additional revenue for the government
