  1. Your life, your choice!!

However, I tip based on quality of service. If I get bad service, then no tip. If good service, 15-30% depending on how good the service is.

These people do get paid wages but in most places it's lower than mim. wage

in AZ. $2.13 an hour for a server or bartender.

  2. In california, food servers gt taxed on their tips...no matter if they get tips or not. So i would say yes it is bad. Especially if you are a repeat customer. There were times where i had customers who i knew didn't, so why should i work my *** off for them? If i know you arnt going to tip me at all im going to give you S****y service.

**edit** For anyone who thinks food servers don't do much work..all i can sat is wow. Try it out for yourself, if you work in a popular resturant you work your *** off. I'd bet you would quit within a week.

  3. I hope you are kidding.

When you receive good service you should tip the waiter.  I usually give 20% and sometimes feel they deserve more.

I do not tip if I get lousy service, though.  I did not tip last night, in fact.

  4. Well, if that's how things are there, then that's you weirdo Brits business. ;)

They get paid c**p wages here. It's beneath minimum wage. Hence, tipping.

And having watched how some people treat wait staff here, I overtip.

  5. It depends on where you live.  In some countries it's already added on.  In the US, they get paid under $3 per hour and the rest is supposed to come from tips.  Also, if you are recognized the next time you come in, you might get "special sauce".  I niether think it is bad for me personally or good.  I think it is bad for you because of the "special sauce."

  6. waiters get paid minumum wage and the have to rely on tips they get to make there earnings better so yea even if you tip 1.00 thats 1.00 more in there pocket to help live if you havent noticed in todays world you cant even live off minimum wage and yet the gov. thinks you can and its wrong

  7. It might not be in your culture, but in the USA for example it is an accepted custom. Restaurants can get by on not spending a lot of money on their servers (ie: Server federal minimum wage is $2.13) so therefore they save a lot of money on their employee's salary so they can make the food cheaper.

However, in other countries where tipping isn't part of the culture -  restaurants don't save money on their employee wages and therefore the meals will be higher in price.

There is nothing to say that you should, but if you don't, I wouldn't recommend going back to that restaurant. If the server recognized you, they know they will lose money by waiting on you so I wouldn't expect to have good service.

  8. The get paid 2.63 where I'm from and depend on tips. If you give the universe brings more abundance into your life- multiplied.. Give all that you have and you will have so much more.

  9. well no one is forcing you to tip the waiter, it's not a law, but if you've ever been one you'd know that it's hard and it sucks and even the smallest tips are a plus. so next time you go out to eat, picture yourself in your waiter's shoes before you make your decision to tip them or not.

  10. in the U.S. you'll be eating phlem

  11. Well, a lot of restaurants pay their serves like $2 to $3 dollars an hour because they expect them to be tipped, and hopefully, tipped well.  I do think it's a little rude to not every tip a waiter or waitress.  If someone serves you very well and does a great job, it's rude not to tell them thank you.  And plus, they probably live off of those tips.  I mean, it isn't manditory to tip, but I think you should.

  12. if its ur culture then its ok but people r still goin to think ur a cheap jerk sry but ur culture says wat it says

  13. Personally I don't tip.

There are thing you have to consider.

The first thing is, are they good at their job? Did they continuously check on you?  Make sure your happy? Get you everything you needed?

Another thing you have to ask yourself is why are you tipping them?

    Heres what they do:

They show you to your seat, bring you beverages, carry your food to your table, and then clean the table.  The chef is the one who cooks your whole entire meal. Think of all the other part time jobs you can thing about. There are many that are so much harder but they don't get a single tip.  These people are being paid minimum wage anyways just like everyone else in the world.  I don't feel bad at all when I don't tip, they have a part time job just like I do and they work half as much.  I have had a job as a waitress and a cashier at a grocery store, the waiting job was much easier, and I don't get tips for being a cashier.

  14. that is so bad, you should never do that again. How do you think the waiter feels when she did "so bad, that she didn't even get a tip". Waiters make their moneythat way and she/he doesn't even get anything. Now think tiping them over again.

  15. Careful, you may be reincarnated as a waiter, wouldnt that be ironic.... hhhhhmmmmm

  16. well it's ok that you don't...but it would be nice of you to.

  17. If you live in Europe, that's fine not to tip.

  18. Yeah i would consider you very rude. Alot of them make less then minimum wage and tips are where they really make their money to survive.. Hard work and dealing with nasty people most of the time, i couldn't do it. So how about being less of a jerk and pay them so they can eat and live too. Maybe you should try being one for a month that will OPEN YOUR EYES.

  19. ya it sort of is..i am a waiter..and i do alot of work..just think if u were a waiter...and  u did all that hard work for a family ...and in the end u get nothin out of it

  20. Sir.

you get hungry you go out to eat instead of staying home and cook for your self. when you go in to any place to get served you are waited on. and being respected, and the waiter shows you kindness. it is only right for you to show respect for their serving you to give them a tip. they only get paid the min. wage where they make enough money to live and pay their bills is mostly from tips. don't be selfish
