  1. Cooking on a charcoal grill is way more expensive than cooking on an electric stove.  If you use half a bag of charcoal a day, at say $5/bag, you'll pay $75/month for charcoal.  Check your electric bill, and see how that compares.  And don't forget to subtract off a chunk of that bill for lights, air conditioning, fans, computers, your TV, etc.

  2. When you consider the fact that you are not adding additional heat to your home by using the charcoal grill, it is much better to grill than to cook on the stove.  And the added bonus to the grill is that you could conceivably use deadfall wood to cook on if you needed to.  I have done that in the past and it still worked great.  You just have to wait until the wood has burned down to coals before you put your food on.

I have cooked complete meals (meat and 3 veggies, bread, and dessert) on an open fire and if I needed to, I could do it on the grill as well.

Just make sure that unless you have cast iron grates on your grill, you do not put your grill(cooking surface) over the fire until you are ready to cook.  The high heat from the flames will warp your grill.

  3. charcoal is more expensive.  even so, you can't cook everything on the grill.  i love charcoal grills, most people use the gas.  but another thing you should keep in mind, charcoal is not healthy(or so they tell us).  eating it everyday could give you some problems down the road.  everything in moderation.
