  1. Yes, it can be, but a lot of it depends upon the rider. You need to follow traffic laws just like cars do and be aware of what drivers and other cyclists are doing around you. Be visible to drivers. Use a good lock (http://www.kryptonitelock.com/Default.as... and lock your bike through your rear wheel and frame to a bike lock station.

  2. yes. be smart. observe the rules of the road. make eye contact with motorists. ride with confidence, not arrogance.

  3. whatever you think is best.

although you have more chance of being in an accident when it's a big city.

  4. I ride my road bike in Phoenix AZ on a daily basis. I am 41 years old and have been hit by a car once and that was when I was 12 years old. So based on my experience, riding in the City can be very safe if you ride safely and follow all traffic laws. Be defensive and have fun!

  5. I bike to and from work everyday and i live in a big city ive never had any trouble just make sure you have a chain to tie your bike up with. Biking is a great way to get around not only does it increase your fitness and so on also bike lanes were put in for a reason :P

  6. sure it just matters where you go and what time of day. use common sense.

  7. I think it is safe if you're careful! Invest in a bike chain and lock. And always use them. Always lock it up when you go into a building. Never ride on a road with buses!!!!! Many years ago I was almost killed when a bus didn't see me on my bike. By the grace of God I wasn't hit by the bus and killed!!! Thank God I'm alive to warn you about this!!! If you can use back roads with no buses, you'll be better off!!! We are always breathing in a little pollution anyway! Just try not to breath in the pollution!!!

  8. It's not safe to walk in some large American cities. At least you're a moving target on a bike...

NEVER leave your bike where you can't see it.

And never let fear keep you from riding.

    Yes, it is worth it.

Ride to live, live to ride !
