Do you think it's the transmission?

Ok so we have a 1991 Cadillac Deville. The transmission went out so we got another one put in. We actually went thru a total of 4 transmissions so far. We are lost now. The last transmission that was put in; after it got put back in and everything back right it started right up but will not go in drive or reverse. So the next morning my husband just decided to try it again and it went in reverse only. So is it still the transmission? Please help us.

sounds like the transmission again. stop getting used ones and get a shop to rebuild it and install it so you have a warranty

Did you change the torqe converter when you put in the transmission? Thats alot of transmission to be going through. Are these rebuilt transmisions are they from a junk yard?  Are you replaceing them yourself, are is a shop doing the job? I'm not a machanic but I think a bad torqe converter can distroy a tranny. Have you checked the fluids in the trannsmission?
