  1. It is a paradox. It makes no sense to want to be trusted, but not trusting others.

  2. This type of question is pretty complicated and could benefit by defining your thoughts like what YOU mean by trust, "being selfish" and who the "people" are.  Those are loaded words that complicate the question.

For example, I'm assuming you are talking about emotional relationships rather than a situation where you have to trust a normal bridge won't fall as you drive across it, or trust that you won't be attacked by a random alligator in downtown San Diego.

There are people who have issues of trust that are unfounded and wildly abstract. If this is the case, then it is important to work with a trained professional to overcome that pattern.

so assuming that this isn't your situation, trust is something that is often established early in our lives, but also can be affected later in life. If there is a repeated abuse of trust for one reason or another, it is normal to protect ourselves and even become hyper sensitive.  Even if it is a valid issue it;s best to keep emotions within reason. Sometimes it is not so easy to do and requires a lot of thought, patience and practice.

It seems that if we lose a bit of control with something that causes pain, rationality turns into confusion. Things become unbalanced and over reactions are easier rather than taking a moment to think things out. Learning to live fully without being hurt takes lots of practice to build strength. So selfish doesn't seem to be the best word, maybe more like afraid and overprotective.

  3. i wouldn't call it selfishness but i do feel that nobody will trust you until they are sure that you trust them and vice verse.its a give and take thing.

  4. That is the very essence of selfishness. Being selfish is taking without giving.  If you don't risk something, you gain nothing.  All relationships begin and end with trust.  If you trust no one, you know no one.  Sure, people let you down sometimes, we're only human, But in the end, you'll appreciate them being around when you need them.  You also have to avail yourself to them in their time of need.

  5. Absolutely!! Its annoying n quiet a disturbing behaviour i think. Would u like us to call u a liar whereas u never lied?

  6. ...simply stated...YES!!!

  7. You can call it that but truly and honestly, it is just in human nature, for one man to care for himself more than others.  It is found everywhere and it is essential for life.  You want others to trust you so you can move on without hinderance, but not to trust the ones who trust you, is called being precatious.

  8. People will not trust you if you do not first show them trust.
