yes i think it's a great idea.everybody can smoke outside,but for the non smokers the smell of ciggaretes in a cafe pub etc it's very unpleasent

It might be that smokers may enjoy a night out in a smoke free atmosphere when they have filled there own homes with smoke. Its all in the mind, miners and many other jobs restricted workers to non smoking for the entire shift so a few hours in a public place should be no hardship, they can retreat home and smoke to their hearts deleight.

Yeah definatly because not everyone in pubs now don't smoke and they might have ashma like me for me it makes me feel tight chested and a bit hard to breath, i like going to pubs but i don't want to have an ashma attack when i go to them. It'll also be good because then ppl mite stop smoking therefore spending less and having more loss change in their pockets.

I am now a non smoker but when i've had too much to drink on nights out i have occasionally been tempted by a crafty puff. I think the no smoking rule is great. It will stop me going home stinking on nights out, take away the temptation, and who honestly enjoys the taste of other peoples smoke when eating out. Great for everyone except the selfish smokers. They can always go out in the fresh air and pollute their own little area without making me, my kids and others breath in their poison. Great.

Yes, a good idea indeed.  It'll cut down on the number of cigarettes consumed and it'll cost you Brits less on healthcare in the long run.  Hope it works for all your sakes.

Since we live in a free country we must always have a choice and not be dictated to. However-I am an ex smoker and don't like breathing second hand smoke, so smokers need areas away from the public  to indulge their unfortunate addiction.

Psshhh there is no evidence that suggest that 2nd hand smoke leads to lung cancer.   Im a nonsmoker and an asthmatc and it doesnt bother me at all.  Smoking and nonsmoking sections are enough.

I think that Spain has got it right, they gave cafe`s, bars etc the choice to be smoking or non smoking therefore the public get a choice of wether to visit smoking or non smoking cafe`s, bars etc.

As a smoker i have no problem with going to a place that is non smoking but feel that there should be a choice for both sides. It is a little dictatorial in this country and Spain has been fair.

I agree with not smoking near food..but give us an area which isn't in the cold!!!
