  1. I think it is very important for am astrologer to have counseling skills... for me, it's the main reason I do astrology readings: to help people get a handle on their lives, and learn to be healthier and more evolved.

    Cap Sun, Mercury & Venus

    Taurus Rising & Moon

  2. Why? they can just divine themselves a degree from the stars. I think that giving any kind of license to these yahoos is just stupid. There is no need to license the galactically weird.

  3. These people would be better than real shrink or a counselor that does not believe in astrology?

All these great things about astrology. Must have made a difference in the history of man. How about a list where astrology has made an impact on history? Religion and science have but it seems that astrology has been omitted from all history books.

  4. Sure. When astrologers or "psychics" can scientifically prove that they can do what they claim. Winning a million dollars by just by verify such abilities would be a great start. A Nobel prize will be a cinch as well. What makes a "professional" anyway? Someone that just takes your money for being very gullible?

  5. Excellent question and point ;)

These days erecting a chart is one thing (simplest by far)...delineating another...interpretation - again another skill. If you stop here you can use this for your own personal development. In fact this is the first thing they teach you - look at your own chart first.

But to sit with another person adds another dynamic and skill. Those that do not do this well - can cause damage or harm to others unknowlingly. Professional astrologers have a code of ethics - one example is NCGR's (take a look at theirs).

They also offer degrees PhD - in Psychological Astrology now. Very different perspective. Best to really get the core basics down first, Liz Greene has a great series of reads on this subject. (But if you are not a "real" Astrologer - the terminology will boggle your brian - LOL)

Also important to study the history behind Astrology - keep in mind that there was a time physician's were required to be Astrologer's too. Science at one time was considered "hocus pocus" too.
