  1. Go to the school that has the best placement program to kick start your career. Good Luck!

  2. Accreditation has little to do with it unless your state requires that you go to a school that is accredited.

It has more to do with your life experience, the way you learn, how much of a self starter you are.

The average age for a massage therapist is 45 so massage schools are geared toward people with lots of life experience which is really important in massage because you will need to learn how to market yourself and deal with serious health challenges to name a few things.

A good technical college with a two year program may provide more time to learn.  Private schools that are locally owned usually have more to lose if they have a crappy school so they strive more.  Big conglomerate massage school chains are really more about the money and putting tons of therapists out there.

The one thing to do is to go into each and ask to interview their teachers, students and graduates and get massages from them too.  You will know what school to choose, based on that.

  3. I think it all depends on if the school is accredited and what you want to do within the field. Are you wanting to work in a spa or salon?? Then it probably doesn't matter. If you are more interested in the medical field and want to work for a chiropractor, hospital, clinic or the like then it does matter. For that you'll need to further your education. Also, do a lot of investigating for your area. There is a common misconception that MT's make a lot of $$ and there is a lot of work available. It is a field that is becoming over saturated. MT is hard, physical labor, take good care of your body. A lot of wear & tear occurs. You can't be successful if you have injuries. Good luck to you.
