  1. No it is instinctive for cats to catch and kill rodents. even when they  don't need them for food.

While the way a cat treats its prey in between catching and killing it appears cruel to us, it's instinctive and there's nothing we can do about it.

I assume you are trying to make a point here - if it's not cruel for cats why is it cruel for humans to do the same.

I have a cat. Do you catch and kill your own meat?

  2. No, it is called survival! We shoot deer and eat it, I have no cats.

  3. face it, we're a part of the animal kingdom, i.e primates.  the natural order of things is not cruel, and in fact i wish many people fed their animals MORE  whole foods like mice because when properly raised, they offer much more nutrition than a composite cereal of animal byproducts we call "kibble". i choose to avoid beef pork etc, exept for fish for partially health and ethical reasons, however im not one bit shy offering live crickets to my bearded dragon, i will eventually aquire a kingsnake which must be fed mice (granted, not live) and i can think of no better treat for an appropriately sized and active dog than a peice fo meat. quite frankly, they were not desighned for the c**p we feed them.

  4. By that logic, we should not allow any carnivores to exist. It's nature, and however you believe it to have come about, the universe is a complex system of which you only have a minute understanding. It is arrogant of you to question it. Besides, that implies that morality extends to the animal realm.

  5. The difference between humans and other animals is that we can rise above our instincts. And yes, our instincts are to hunt and eat meat-whatever it takes to survive.

Cats aren't exactly socially conscious. It's in their nature to hunt mice, and so they do. I don't think it's cruel, but i do think it would be if the cat knew any better. Until we knew eating animals was cruel, we all did it too.

  6. If it is in the wild then no, it is part of nature's cycle. But if the cat is in captivity then yes it is wrong since you can feed it other food.

  7. A cat (of any size) catching her prey and eating it is far different from what humans do to animals to produce what we call "meat".

I live with a cat, and she does a pretty good job of keeping the mice away, but she has caught a few.  Unfortunately, most did not survive the process of her playing with them.  I have humane traps so if one does escape her, I can release him in a park near my apartment building.

And yes, I feed her meat-based foods.  Shes' a cat and she needs it; I'm a human and I don't.

  8. Of course it's not cruelty, the cat knows no better.

Humans, on the other hand, are very different. They can know it's wrong and they don't have to eat meat and animal products to survive.

Just a side note: I don't 'keep' cats as 'pets', I don't consider them my owner, for the concept of ownership over another is monstrous, just like the slave trade. I am their carer.

  9. there animals its what they do they eat each other thats there nature unlike human being its not in our nature to go around hunting animals down and eating them

  10. No, its not cruelty.

Cats do not have the decision making power to be vegetarians.

We do. There's a huge difference.

    Cats instinctivly hunt.

We hunt because we find it recreational.

Of course, in a survival situation, then I think its fine for people to hunt, seeing as it is a matter of life and death.

I hope you understand this logic.

  11. No. Cats are carnivores and they need to eat meat.

  12. No, I think that's what cats do.

    I don't have cats.

  13. It's instinct for them. Humans have the right to choose. They have free will and are aware of what they do. I love animals, so I keep cats as pets. I don't like when my cat catches a mouse, but he doesn't know any better. If he were outside, he would do it. It's not a big deal.

  14. no cats are carnivores they are doing what is natural to them.

since i can guess where your going with this.... the meat humans eat (most of them, esp in the us) is animals raised in slaughterhouses and suffer terribly.  we also eat much much more than we need to survive. nothing natural about it.

  15. noo!! they need it to survive!!! we dont NEED meat to survive!!! we cant rip animals limb from limb with our teeth and claws! thats why we arent meant to eat meat!

  16. Yes it is cruel so lets put all cats in jail.

  17. A cat caching a rat, or a tiger catching a person, is programed instinctive behavior, and they are true carnivores. People have the ability to say to them selfs: should I kill that bunny for breakfast or have a banana and oatmeal. Humans have something called freewill, other animals do not.

  18. Nope.  But I bet you don't catch and kill your own food.

  19. They were designed to do such things however humans were not. We have the digestive system and teeth of a plant eater unlike the cat who can handle raw foods and can kill on there own.
