  1. Yes, those who are causing the problem must pay for the solution.

  2. no

  3. I like the question.

The price of any product or service should be calculated on the cost of production as well as the costs to the environment. If the "costs to the environment" is not included in the prices then this means that the price is being subsidised by future generations.

Government subsidies on oil should be removed and appropriate taxes should be applied to make up the difference if the "costs to the environment" have not been included by the supplier.

    Thanks for the question.

  4. If 'Global Warming' was being caused by man, or accelerated by man in some way then my answer would be Yes!

The fact is that although mankind does have much to answer for, 'Global Warming is not one of them. So the answer is a definite NO!!

Most taxes are unfair in the first place although if they were actually put to proper use most taxes could be justified to some extent. The problem is that they never are and just keep getting worse.

  5. Well, I first have to ask if you think that ANYTHING that the Federal Government does can truly be considered fair?

Personally, I think it is completely fair.  This has nothing to do with Global Warming, but everything to do with economics.

As soon as the tax on Gasoline raises the price enough, there will be alternatives.  People will find a way.  They won't like it, but then as things shake out, the alternatives might be even better and cheaper than gas in the long run.

Will it affect the poor?  Of course, all taxes do regardless of who you tax.  Will it impact the rich?  Not even a little.  Will it reduce the use of gasoline?  Maybe.  Will it deepen the recession and cause significant inflation?  Oh, yes!!!

  6. no i don't, nor should vehicles that are as sunshine put it unnecessary be taxed because they might use more gas than a small car.

  7. Is it fair to tax people?

  8. Any activity individuals do which adversely effects the public commons (i.e. areas owned and enjoyed by all the public) should be limited in some way (by tax, fee, or punishment) by governments.  The entire purpose of governments is to protect all it's citizens (the common good), not to allow all it's citizens to harm one another without consequences.

  9. no way.

  10. I think gas should be so outrageously priced that people get off there **** and walk to work/ride their bike if it's reasonable, or that they feel the pressure to carpool or take public trans! :P Except for me of course.

No people should not be taxed because of global warming unless all that money is going directly towards healing the wounds humans have inflicted on earth.

  11. I don't think gas should be taxed, but I think there should be HUGE taxes on large trucks, SUV's, hummers, and other unneccesary, gas-guzzling vehicles, unless you live on a farm or something where you have an actual need for a vehicle like that.

  12. Yes, mostly because the people will be approving the tax first.

"Voters will decide whether to approve a "climate change mitigation and adaptation fee" under  a proposed law being debated by the state legislature."

Also because the body of scientific evidence supports the theory.  As do virtually all scientific experts.

If a doctor tells you "you're probably going to die unless you buy this heart medication", and you agree "yeah I need to buy that medication", is it fair for the doctor to ask you to buy the medication?

  13. The government shouldn't tax people on global warming because carbon emissions don't cause it. cows product twice as much carbon in a year than vehicles. should we tax our beef to? and you can probably bet money that not all of that money is going to what it is taxed for.
